Jos. Carpenter, of Morocco, Ind., is in the city visiting his daughter, Mrs. H. V.

Mr. Curtz, of the Banner, has been at Rossville this week on business.
Mrs. Templeton, of Thowntown, who has been in the city a few days, the guest of Mrs.

H. Y. Morrison has returned from Illinois, where he has been visiting among friends

Miss Z?ili?a Kinderling, a very accomplished and attractive young lady of Shelbyville,
this state, who has been visiting her brother John, of Geetingsville, the past week,
returned home yesterday.
A U. S. detective was in the city yesterday on business.
Mrs. ?. [possibly H.] Whitaker, of Kokomo, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. C.
Milner, of Middle Fork.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Cox, of Russiaville, who have been the guests of their daughter, Mrs.
?. [possibly S.] Bowen, of West Washington street, have returned home.
John Edwards, of Simms & Co.'s Flouring Mill, is on the sick list.
Mrs. Lottie D??ch, of Indianapolis, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Charles West, of
First street.
Mrs. J. C. Young will leave today for Hoopeston, Ills., where she will spend a few
days visiting her sister.
J. C. Young, of the firm of Sims & Co., had been on the sick list this week.
Charley Mahan, the groceryman, is in Buffalo, N. Y., where he went to buy goods.
M. J. Taylor, of Geetingsville, took in the Red Men's excursion to Chicago,
Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Manvell were in Chicago this week.
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Miller's infant baby who has been dangerously ill of lung fever
is slowly recovering.
Mrs. R. W. Watkins, left Wednesday morning for Montezuma, where she will visit among
friends and relatives. She will remain several weeks.
James Brown, of Bloomington, Ills., was in the city this week.
Among those who went to Chicago on the Red Men's excursion, Thursday, were, Sam
Cohee, Walter Shores, Walter Suit, Wm. Freas, Wm. Morrison and a number of others.
Mrs. J. ?. [possibly H.] Mosier [or Hosier], of Montezuma, Ind., who has been here
visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Watkins, has returned home after a very pleasant visit.
Agent Jones of the L. N. A. & C. ticketed 65 persons to Chicago, Thursday.
E. Burkhart, of Frogtown, has accepted a position at Indianapolis as clerk in a broom
factory.
Alf Bell, of Geetingsville, circulated among friends here Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Thomas, of Moran, were in the city Thursday.
Jake Catron, a prosperous farmer living near Middle Fork, transacted business here
Thursday.
Wm. Knott, of the W. U. Telegraph office, is working for C. Kuhns, at the Vandalia.
Paul Petzhold, of Lebanon, is in the city visiting his brother Charles, of Mahan's
grocery.
Misses Jennie and Cora Coulter are spending the holidays in Kokomo, the guests of
their friend, Miss Nellie Kroh.
Miss Julia Holland, of Indianapolis, is spending the holidays with Miss Carrie Carter,
on Christian Ridge.
Misses Mattie Lough and Mary Frazee, of our corps of city teachers, attended the State
Teachers' Association at Indianpolis this week.
Miss Belle Ratliff, of Russiaville, is in the city, the guest of Miss Fannie Ashman.
Wm. Burns and wife, living three miles north of the city, left for Kearney, Neb.,
Thursday, where they expect to reside in the future.
J. O. Rogers, of Rossville, was in the city, Wednesday, on legal business. He reports
everything lovely in that place.
Misses Etta and Dora Rogers spent this week visiting among friends at Delphi.
A. N. Snoddy, of Dayton, was in the city shaking hands with old friends on Wednesday.
