Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Richard H. Newport
CLINTON - Richard H. Newport, 90, of Clinton died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Rockville. He was an educator, high school principal and superintendent of South Vermillion School Corp. He was born Aug. 13, 1914, in Clinton to Herve H. Newport and Mary Richards-Newport. His first wife, Merle Carlin Newport, died Nov. 9, 1987; and his second wife, Martha Halsey Montgomery Newport, died Nov. 28, 1994. Survivors include one brother-in-law, Donald Halsey and his wife, Patricia of Indianapolis; one niece, Patricia Ann Brown of Terre Haute; and several cousins. He also was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Helen Sarah Newport, Mary Esther Newport and Bertha Newport Martin. He was a 1932 graduate of Clinton High School, received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Indiana State University. While serving as superintendent, he was selected to act as administrator of the Supplementary Educational Program hosted by Indiana State Univers!
ity. After his retirement in 1974, he served on the local library board, the county tax adjustment board and the auditing committee for the Indiana State Teacher's Association. His active memberships included the Indiana Retired Teacher's Association, Jerusalem Lodge 99 Free & Accepted Masons, Last Man's Club of Clinton, Indiana State University Alumni Association, past member of Zorah Shrine and Sunshine Boys Club of Terre Haute. He was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Clinton. In recognition of Meritorious Service he was awarded the Elder Emeritus in the 1980s. He has enjoyed a long and good relationship with dear friends, Bruno Costa of Clinton, the late Joe Rendaci of Clinton and a special friend, the late Gloria G. McGill of Clinton. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe three years, from 1943 to 1946. He received a Bronze Star of Meritorious Service. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Karanovich-Giovanini Funeral Home in Clinton, with the Re!
vs. Ed Taylor and Wendell Adams officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Mem
orial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church; or, to a charity of donor's choice.

There isn't any Clinton Twp. in Clinton Co., IN. You mention Vermillion, could that be Vermillion Co., IL or Vermillion Co., Indiana?
