John McCullough,
Retired Farmer, Dies at Age of 90
John McCullough, one of the commuity's oldest citizens, died at 11:30 o'clock this
morning at his home on South Murphy Avenue. He had passed his 90th birthday and had spent
his entire life in Clay and Putnam counties.
Mr. McCullough was a well known retired farmer. He was born in western Putnam County and
was a son of the late James and Mary Ann Mace McCullough, early settlers of southwestern
utnam. In 1905 he moved to this community and has since resided on Murphy avenue. He has
been in poor health for the past two years.
Mr. McCullough was married on August 21st, 1879, to Anna E. Bolin, who died August 12th,
1944. Survivors are two daughters and five sons, Mrs. Cora E. Mong, Brazil R. R. 5, Mrs.
Thurmond Loudermilk, Cartersburg, Ind.; Jesse, of Sullivan; Claude, of Universal; Earl, of
this city, Gabriel, of Cartersburg, and Ray McCullough at home; also 11 grandchildren and
13 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Lawson & Son Funeral Home where it will lie pending funeral
arrangements.
