Hi All ,
I was lucky enough to email an inquiry to the Terre Haute Tribune Star last year and
heard back from a cousin that still lives in the area which was great as he had so much
information that I was lacking. You can email tamszion(a)yahoo.com ( Tamie Dehler) . On
Sundays the paper runs a genealogy column for free and will post queries about Clay
county. You need to include contact information such as address and phone which appear in
the paper. That was how my cousin contacted me. It took several months before my inquery
was posted but well worth it.
My Dad grew up in Harmony but moved to Detroit in 1928. Every summer we went to Harmony
to visit the relatives and my cousins from N.Y. & Ill also came. We would go to Mass
at the Catholic Church in Brazil while there. That was in the 50s.
So good to hear from all of you who have memories of the area.

Sure am enjoying the mail regarding Brazil. My ancestors are from
Brazil.
My grandfather had a tire and repair shop on National in the early
1900's
and his sister my Great Aunt Minnie Rector owned a small ladies shop for
many years on National.
As a young teenager I always looked forward to going down there. My
Uncle
Al Rardin would always take us to the Elks club for fried chicken
Pleasant memories of Brazil. I donated many, many items to the Genealogy
society
there in Centerpoint. Should also mention not only my friend but
relative
Margareta Harr Jackson.
