Message Board Post:
Linzy/Lindsay Poe was a son of John Poe and Mary, of Wilkes County, North Carolina, born
about 1779, NC. Linsday entered land in 1795 in Wilkes County, was in Greene County,
Tennessee by 1800, 1805 in Anderson County, Tennessee, by 1814, was in Campbell County,
Tennessee, where he entered the War of 1812 in 1814, for 7 months service, stayed in
Campbell County until 1830, where he is found in Whitley County, Kentucky, is also there
in 1840. He is in the 1850 census of Clay County, Indiana and I can find nothing else on
him. He never claimed bounty land, the national archives can find nothing other than his
service record. He had a daughter named Orpha, who married Alexander F. Cabbage, they both
died in Clay County, Indiana, Orpha in 1890 and Alexander in 1862. Alexander Cabbage is
the brother of Milley Cabbage who married Thomas Riggs in Campbell County, Tennessee, and
some of their children (Riggs) were in Clay County, Indiana.
