I see that the DAR ancestor (applications) from John Mills Bateman relatives, have listed
Joel as John, a Revolutionary War Veteran with the dates of 1750 (b) and 1825 (d) and that
he was born/died in New York. (since they lived in Ohio, i doubt Joel/John died in New
York).
The area of New York that they were listed as living in the 1800 census (where Noah,
Carleton, and John Mills) were born, was the military plot area purchased from the Native
American Tribe. Although I couldn't find the Bateman name on the list, many of those
that were given the warrants/grants, sold their land before the titles were cleared. Could
be why they left and went to Ohio. I'm confused as to when exactly Joel/John died.
I've seen 1825, 1806, and 1808 with Butler County listed as the place of death.
Wondering if at some point, if Joel/John died early on, Hannah moved with the kids to
Louisiana? or Noah left at a young age to go fight in Louisiana with his brothers?
I did read in a book, about a "Joel Bateman" whom was referred to about the
battle of Lexington. If that's the case, and it's that Joel/John, he wasn't
born in New York. Joel/John's wife was listed as being Hannah Wheaton in the DAR
record, Not Hannah Miller. In other discussions, Hannah Wheaton is his mother, and Hannah
Miller his wife. Wish there wasn't such a hole. Would figure that Noah would have had
the info on his grandparents as told by his parents? A big mystery.
