Patience was supposedly born about 1807. She married William Luther,
probably about 1822/1824, presumably in or around Clay County. He died about
1844. According to the probate court records, she married Benjamin Lee in
1851.
It is said by early researchers that William, born 1788, was first married
to someone else and had three children, William, Lucinda, and Catherine.
These children would have been pretty well grown by the time Patience married
William. It is interesting to me that none of these children shared in the
estate when their father died. Patience received 1/3 of the estate as her
dower right. Her six children each received 1/6 of the remaining part.
Did Patience perhaps die before 1860? I see that her two younger children,
Minerva and William Howard Luther are living with older sisters in 1860.
Anyway, how does she fit into what is known of the Long family?
