Yesterday I copied some records from the probate court, book A, in which
Christian Luther files his settlement of the estate of (apparently) his
brother, William, who died 29 Jan 1851, and also his father, Michael, who
died 27 Jan 1851. (An epidemic?)
Both of these administrations were begun before the courthouse burned. The
estate of Michael appears to have been settled Nov. 16,1854 and recorded in
February 23,1855. The estate of William Luther was settled February 16,1855,
and was recorded in February 24,1855. The heirs of both were the same,
William apparently having died unmarried. The heirs were Polly Luther, the
widow of Michael, Christian Luther, Marilda Kindal, nancy Harris, Mary A
Luther, and the heirs of Sarah Long.
This indicates to me that the old family group sheet which I have in my files
is substantially correct, although there are a few obvious guesses,
particularly regarding the ages of children.
Les Johnson had that one of the wives of John long was Mary Luther. Since I
am sure I have seen something, perhaps in a printed history, to indicate that
Laura Long married Clark Luther, and was the daughter of John long and Sarah
Luther, it seems there was an error regarding John's wife's name. I am
anxious to know about this, because I would like to know if the children as
listed by Les are actually the "heirs Of Sarah Long."
