Pat,
I have NO idea whether this will mean anything to you, but there are
Girtons in Marion County, IN. A William Girton was a vice-principal and/or
dean of boys at Ben Davis HS in Indianapolis for roughly five eons. He was
also head of the local Selective Service System - made him really popular
with the guys, as you may imagine. All his PA announcements started with
his booming voice raising the dead with, "PARDON ME..." Interesting
character.
Best of luck in your search.

Marybeth, Thank's for your data, I really appreciate your help.
Every little bit helps. I also recieved a message from a lady
that volunteers at the Clay County Genealogy with some info
on their days and hours and she states they have some Girton's
on file there, I am so excited and plan to visit there after the first of
the year.I am fairly new at this Genealogy research so it is wonderful
all the help I am recieving on the internet. I still don't know a whole
lot as to where to look etc., but with everyone's help and suggestions
I am learning and really enjoying it.
Thanks again for your data and Happy Holiday's to you and your.
