Hello!
I am new to this list and wanted to post my Clay Co families...in hopes....
: ) As I typed this out, I seem to find more holes in my research than ever
before, but I'm stubborn & want to find this family. Below are listed the
1880 Mo census & the 1850 & 1860 IN census for my MOORE families.
Thanks for taking a look at the following info. Suggestions are welcome.
Janice : )
I have a John H. MOORE b 1835 m to Mary MOORE b 1848, dau of James A. MOORE b
1825 & Sarah _____ b 1825, per obit Sarah was b in Green Co, KY 1 of 13
children. Also, per obit, James & Sarah had 7 children...Mary was the only
child to live to adulthood.
This much I know, by 1880 the following family was living in Missouri, per
the gravestone of James A. MOORE, he died Jan 1874 & was buried in MO. You
will see in the following census that 2 children were born in IL c 1870...we
just dont know WHERE in IL they were born, that census is not indexed. Mary
E. MOORE died in 1878 per her gravestone. The county they settled in is a
burned county. Even my grandfather's 1907 birth cert was destroyed.
#71, 1880 Missouri, sheet 27 line 23
MOOR, John H. head w m 43 KY KY KY
" , Amos son w m 15 IN KY IN
" , Sarah E. dau w f 11 IL KY IN
" , Jas W. son w m 8 IL KY IN
" , John father w m 67 KY PA ( ) (this is my ONLY clue
to this man)
" , Sarah mil w f 54 KY PA ( )
Note: Sarah outlived her husband, all her children, son-in-law & his 2nd
wife. Sadly all info that was passed down to Amos was destroyed in a fire in
the 1950's.
By chance, an online friend purchased a CD set w/ the IN 1860 Federal Census
& offered to do a lookup. Since Amos (listed below had been born in IN, I
thought, why not do a lookup...w/ this fairly common surname...w/ given names
to match...it couldn't hurt.
Well, the kind man found James A. MOORE, wife, Sarah & dau, Mary. And also a
John H. MOORE...whose age fits mine.
From lookup by an online friend from CD of IN 1860 census...the info
does not
seem to be complete, I may be wrong:

From the USGenWeb archives, Clay Co Deaths, there is a David MOORE, d
3 Oct
1895, 79y 11m....the age matches...I wonder if he is the same man as
above...I wonder if he had family...and is he a brother to James? Don't 'cha
just love this hobby!
No death record exists for the Missouri deaths of John H. MOORE, Mary E.
MOORE, James A. MOORE, or Sarah MOORE. The death cert of James W. MOORE has
"unknown" in all parent & birth info...he was murdered in KC in 1919 &
they
didn't seem to speak to his wife for the cert info...her name isn't mentioned
either.
Another note, due to Mary's age, I am not sure if she is the mother to Amos
MOORE. Family rumor says that Amos had a differant mother. Her age would
have been apx 16 when she gave birth...possible...but I'm not positive.
Since she seemed to have gone thru the deaths of most, if not all, of her
siblings with her parents...she may have been older than her years. I can't
imagine it. Since her parents are w/ her & her family in MO...I imagine they
were close. I do not know if these MOORE families are related...possible, I
know.
