Brenda,
I grew up in Spencer, now live in Columbus. My Jenkinses lived in Putnam Co., north of
Putnamville. Several are buried inthe Parks-Jenkins burying ground (that's what they
called it) on John Jenkins' farm. His daughter Samantha married William H.
O'Neal. They were my great grandparents. I've been curious to know if they were
related to those Jenkinses in Clay County. My Granddad's middle named was Emery, a
name I've seen with a Jenkins surname in Clay county records. Can you give me any
details of the Jenkinses there? Some of them also went to Montgomery County--Israel
Jenkins, I think.
I'm also trying to go farther back in time from Elijah Jenkins, the father of John,
Israel, etc. I know he was born 1770 in VA, but have never been able to determine who his
parents were. I'd like to get to the immigrant and find out the country of origin.
Any help would be appreciated.
Where do you live in Owen County? It's been over forty years since I left there, but I
still get back for high school reunions and funerals (more funerals then reunions, I'm
sorry to say.)
John O'Neal
