LeeAnn,
Registration of births and deaths was not required until 1882; although it
was required then, compliance was sporadic until the early 1900s.

Subject: [INCLAY] my trip to Clay Co and the many questions I have
afterwards :)
Hello! My name is LeeAnn, I've posted a couple of times to the
list. I
have many ancestors out of Clay County. On Wednesday and Thursday of this
last week I travelled to Clay County to do some research. I didn't get
everything accomplished that I wanted to, but oh well :).
My first question is when did it become law to actually register births
and
deaths? I went to the Health Office and they said 1882 to 1921 was
available, but I didn't find my Lawrence Otis Truttier (born July 20,
1882).
It may not have been required by then.
The rest are all questions about specific individuals I am looking for.
If
you have any info on these people, I'd appreciate it!
1. I couldn't find my Curtis Hedge Tucker's death certificate. He died on
August 10th, 1904, nor did I find his gravestone or where he was buried,
but
I did find his wife's - Maranda Ann Zenor Tucker.
2. William Edward Leslie, born February 18, 1894 - no birth register
found.
Son of Solomon K. Leslie and Laura Ellen Petty (but found their
marriage
record).
3. Emma J. Ward Frost's death certificate, died October 23, 1915, but
found
her burial site in an old cemetery.
4. Elizabeth Ann Lowdermilk Tucker's death certificate not found,
February
19, 1893, but I may have found her gravestone.
5. Found nothing on the Von Cannon's! (Samuel, Zilpha, Elizabeth)
6. Found no death date for Elizabeth Stallcop Petty (married to James
Howard Petty)
7. No death date for Elizabeth Elson Stallcop, wife of David J Stallcop.
If anyone has any information they can share, let me know. Also, any info
on the Stallcop's and Schlatters that came into Pike County would be kewl
too. I will post later any info I found on the following surnames if
requested: Von Cannon, Elson, Lowdermilk, Stallcop, Leslie, Frost, Zenor,
Jenkins, Wilson, Tucker, Truttier, Petty, Graves.
Thanks again, hope all is well out in Clay County list serv land!
