I know you are all going to find this hard to believe but I have made an
error!!! Bertha Grimes Hoffman Porter will be buried in Clearview
cemetery instead of Summit Lawn -- and for at least 30 years -- I thought
she would be buried in Summit Lawn. because I thought her first husband
Hoffman was buried in summit lawn and if they didn't move him just to
throw me off -- he is buried in clearview with his tombstone marking his
head.. surprised me!!

Thanks for responding to my query. I did not know that the Hoffman
family
were neighbors to George Scherb of Clay County, Indiana---who was the
uncle
to my ancestor, George Leonard Scherb stayed there on/off for the
first
year after immigrating. It must be there that he met his future wife,
Anna
Barbara Hoffman. They married in Nunda Township, Freeborn County,
Minnesota.
I recently was reviewing the church records from the Nunda Church, and
find there is another Hoffman from Clay County, Indiana listed. I find
a marriage in 1882 for a Conrad Hoffman who was born in Posey Twp.,
Clay
County, Indiana. I am presuming this to be a relative of Anna Barbara,
who probably accompanied her to Minnesota for her wedding. I find
evidence
from children's baptisms that Conrad and family resided in the Twin
Cities,
MN.
I have just started researching my Hoffman line, and don't have much
information
on that family in Indiana. Appreciate any information you have.
