Checked 1860 census of Clay county, Indiana and did not find your Jackson
family.
Noticed an obit for Luke Jackson, age 68, which appeared in Terre Haute
Tribune 21 Feb 1923, you might want to send for it. Library charges $1.00,
for a copy. You can find the index on the Vigo Co Genweb page.

Message Board Post:
I've noticed many Clay county families with ties to Clermont county, OH.
I
wondered if anyone has come across Luke Jackson, born ~1825 in OH. He
married Eliza Hall (possibly the daughter of Isaac Hall) in Clermont, OH in
1845 and the couple had 6 children: Lydia (b1846) and John L.(b 1848) both
born in Ohio; Sophia, William F., Luke, and Stephen, all born in Clay IN.
Eliza was remarried to Joseph France in Clay county 1867 but I am unsure of
what became of the elder Luke since I found no Civil War records or grave in
Clay Co. There are a number of Clermont county Jackson's in a cemetery in
Vermillion county but the stones are badly damaged. Luke and Eliza are in
the 1850 Clay census and I have not yet checked the 1860 census. Ring a bell
with anyone? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
