For those of you researching the McCullough/Yocum line who are descended
from George Washington McCullough, b 1802 Montgomery County KY and Rachel
Yocum, b 12-24-1805 Montgomery County, who moved to Clay County IN in 1830.
I've recently established to the satisfaction of the Sons of the American
Revolution that George W. McCullough is a son of RW Veteran John
McCullough, b 1-16-1755 in Washington County PA, d 6-15-1823 in Ripley
County IN.
George and Rachel had several children in Clay County. Court House records
had been burned in both states, and the Bee Ridge Christian Church records
were destroyted in a 1935 fire. It was difficult to prove that George
descended from John and Constant. Now that it HAS been established, any of
those who descend from that marriage would be eligible to join the SAR or
the DAR by showing thier lineage to George and Rachel.
If interested, please contact me and I'll give you the needed information.
Also - I have quite a bit of information on George's parents, John and
Constant. I'll be happy to share with any interested researchers.
