The Butts surname is more known in either the Perry Township or Sugar Ridge
Township -- that isn't saying there aren't Butts in other townships I am
just trying to give you a clue. -- Several Butts buried in Cemetery on ST RD
46 west of ST Rd 59 in a church cemetery -- this might be in Vigo co but it
may still be in Clay county. I can't remember the name of the cemetery but
it seems like Old or Oak Hill rings a bell but don't quote me. The Butts
that owns the auction house in Brazil in the late 70's 80's mother lived
around the Cory Indiana Area.. Also there are some Butts connected to the
Pleasant Grove Church of Christ on Lower Bloomington Road in Clay County --
this is south of Centerpoint ROAD on ST Rd 59 south of I-70 -- I think it is
the first road pasted CenterPoint ROAD-- to the right and the church is
within a half mile -- there is a cemtery next to the church but not sure if
BUTTS are buried there. The Pell's who incidently went into business with
Butts Auction-- live in Van Buren Township and one of the Pell grandsons is
named Brady --
don't know if there is a connection or just liked the name.
Some of the Pell name is found around Harmony and there is a Pell cemetery
south on Harmony road from US 40 south before Pinkley Street. It is back in
a field and hard to get to. Denver Dardeen who just passed away a couple
of days ago married Johanna Butts and her family was also connected to the
McCullough name..

Subject: [INCLAY] BUTTS/BRADY/Calcutta Cemetery
I was in Clay Co. this last week, and found the Calcutta Cemetery, I
found
David and Lilly M. and daughter Reva all buried in the Calcutta Cemetery,
they were only 3 miles from where we were camping.
David died in Indianapolis 1920, Reva Born 1904 died 1905
Lillie died1 Apr1905 of TB. Sam E. BRADY (Lillies Brother) was the one who
signed
the DC. I don't find any more BRADY's there at all. on the death
certificate I found that as on the census' also Lillie was B in OH. I also
found that I can get the death certificates here for a lot less than they
said they ask for them in Clay Co, they said they had to go to Terre Haute
toget them, is the reason they are $10.00.
I took pictures, but the camera needed new batteries, and didn't wind very
fast, so don't know if the pictures took.
These were the only BUTTS that I found, they were all on the same stone.
When David and Lilie Married they wrote Lillie M BRADLEY, they married the
1st day
of January 1888. Jacob BOHM was the minister of the Gospel that
married them.
Daivid's obit said he was to be seen in the Ebeneser Church, Lillie was in
a
funeral home owned by PELL. the PELL name is all over the cemetery, I
didn't see any other BUTTS there. If there was no stone, I don't think they
are listed in the cemetery books. BUTTS surname owns an acution House, don't
know if they are kin to the BUTTS who married my BRADY Side.
We will be going back there in May , so will look again for anything, and
if you
need a picture of a gravesite there I can do that, I'll also get a
disposable camera, so I can make sure I at least get a picture this time.
