Am not researching this line, just trying to be helpful. In the 1860 census for Clay
county, Harrison township, page 89, there was a family headed by Charles Rogerson, 39, a
common laborer, born in KY, and included Martha, 18, a seamstress, Ind, - Ellen J, 12, Ky,
- Thomas D, 10, Ky, - Clarissa B, 9, Ky, - John A, 6, Ky, and James H, 4, Ind.
Unfortunately, no family relationships are shown. In the 1870 census for Clay county,
Lewis township, page 17, the family was again headed by Charles Rogerson, 50, a grocer,
born in Ky, and included Martha, 26, keeping house, Ind, - James H, 14, at home, Ind, -
Elizabeth, 7, Ind, - Elie Jane, 6, Ind, - William T, 1, Ind, and William Cain, 36, a farm
laborer, Ill. Again, no family relationships are shown. Hope this helps. Don
