I have an obit published in the Terre Haute, IN Tribune on Aug. 29, 1922.
The obit does not give much information, but it says that
"......Mrs. Vermila BLAIR....died at the home in Clay City.
The obit ends with "...Funeral services will be held at the residence at
1 o'clock this afternoon. burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.
My question(s) is/ are:
-- would this reference to a "Home" be to such as a county home for older
citizens where she died?
or do you suppose it simply meant .....Mrs. Vermila Blair....died at her or
a relative's home?
--also in earlier listings on this site, which I didn't pay too much
attention to at the time, someone was offering to do cemetery lookups? or
asking for one?
if someone would do lookups, I would appreciate them emailing me;
--I am also looking for the couple whom I think are the parents of Vermila,
they likely could be
William and Martha WHITE
(William born about 1810 /1811 and Martha same time or 10 yrs
later, different ages for Martha have been given on different censuses.
William and Martha White lived in Sullivan Co. IN through the 1880 census,
then I lost touch of them, and wonder if they moved to the Clay City/ Clay
Co. IN / Harrison twp IN area. to be near their daughter.
Maybe a cemetery listing in this area would show up for them.
--another question; does Clay City, IN (or the area) have a newspaper
for the time period of 1922 that could be checked for a more informative
obit for Vermila (White) Wilkins Blair?
Thanks for any help
