father's name is Emory (or Emery-found listed both ways). His mother is even
more of a problem. I have found her listed as Lou PATTON, Lon PATTON, Lon
PALLEN and even Mary PATTEN. >>
I, too, love a puzzle. So here are my two cents.
A Richard Patton is found in Fairbanks Tw, Sullivan County (p. 976) in 1860
census. He is 37 years old and born in Ohio; wife Elizabeth age 38.
Children are Amanda age 21, Theodore age 16, Daniel age 12, Lynch age 10, Job
age 9, Sarah J. age 6 and Mary A. age 1.
In 1880, Daniel Patton age 33 and born in Indiana, was living in Petty Tw,
Lawrence Co, Illinois with his wife Rhoda age 33 and his 4 children, as well
as his sister, Lou Patton age 13 also born in Indiana. However, they claim
that their parents were both born in Indiana.
In the meantime, Job D. Patton married in Sullivan County on 20 Jul 1874 to
Minnie Duncan. In 1880, Job D. age 25 and born in Indiana, was living in
Brazil Tw, Clay Co, Indiana, with his wife Minnie age 25 and born in
Illinois, with his children Minnie age 4 and Ollie age 3. Job claimed his
parents were both born in Ohio.
Edward and Mary Love lived in household #3, just before Job in household #15.
1900 finds a Joseph (sic) D. Patton born Nov 1867 (age 48 - censustaker
couldn't subtract) and his wife Minnie born May 1854 (age 46), with daughter
Minnie age 24 (born Nov 1875) and other children, living next to Emery and
Lou Love. Both Joseph (Job) and Lou claim their parents were both born in
Indiana.
The Richard and Lydia Patton of Marion Tw, Jasper County in 1880 were as
follows in 1870:
1870 -- Woodford, IL, Greene Tw, pg 312 148 145
Richard Patton 62 PA Farmer
Lydia Patton 54 VA Keep House
Rosella Patton 22 PA
Robert Patton 16 IL Farm laborer
Eugenia Patton 9 IL
George Noland GSon 4 DC CT IL
I couldn't find Richard in 1850 or 1870 in Sullivan County, or elsewhere,
although there were a number of Pattons in Sullivan County. Perhaps a lookup
person from Sullivan County could help you.
