Daniel Manning is listed in the 1884 history of Clay County, p. 267, under Sugar Ridge
Township/Saline City: he was one of the first mechanics in Saline City.
The following information is on page 72 of the Atlas of Cemeteries of Clay County [graves
recorded in 1996 by M. Bollinger (presumed descendant of Elizabeth Manning)].
Daniel Manning is buried in Huff Cemetery, Perry Township, Clay Co., Indiana. Per Brazil
Register (Feb. 27, 1890), Daniel Manning died in 1890 (on the Friday before the date of
this obituary and was buried in the Huff family graveyard on the follwing Sunday).
Margaret Huff Manning is buried in Huff Cemetery, Perry Township, Clay Co., Indiana; the
stone reads "Margaret Huff, Wife of D. Manning Died Feb. 7, 1885, Aged 54 y, 11 m,
Loved in Life, In Death Not Forgotten." Underneath, on this same stone is "D.
Manning". [This stone was seen by Steve Leeper on March 4, 2006.]
Three Manning children are also buried in this cemetery: Rosettie Manning (born 7-16-1858;
died 7-30-1858); Matilda Manning (born 1-13-1854; died March 4, 1863); Monterville Manning
(born 4-26-1871; died Nov. 17, 1878).
On Sept. 3 (or 4), 1882, Elizabeth Manning (daughter of Daniel and Margaret Huff Manning)
married Hezakiah Bolinger [Clay Co, Ind. Bk 5, p, 497; Clay Co., Ind. Bk C23, p. 39].
Hezekiah Bolinger died at the age of 84 in Clay County, Indian. He was survived by
Elizabeth Bolinger; four daughter (Clissie Haberle of Cass, Missouri; Laura Kalbert of
Clay City; Maude Howard of Braidwood, Illinois; Grace Scott of Worthington); two sons
(Eathel Bolinger of Spencer; Don Bolinger of Sjirley, Indiana) and 19 grandchildren.
Elizabeth Bolinger died at the age of 84 at the home of her son Eathel Bolinger of
Patricksburg. She was predeceased by her husband Hezakiah Bolinger. She was survived by
two sons (Eathel Bolinger of Patricksburg; Don Bolinger of Shirley, Indiana); for
daughters (Mrs. John Haberle of Case Missouri; Laura Calvert of Clay City, Indiana; Maude
howard of Braidwooe, Illinois; Grace Scott of Worthington); one sister (Mrs. Josie Allen
of Texas), and nineteen grandchildren.
Emily Josephine "Josie" Manning married Clinton M. Allen on October 5, 1884
[Clay Co., Ind Bk 6 p. 195; Clay Co. Bk 23, p. 99]. The author of this submission is the
great grandson of Clinton and Emma Manning Allen.
