Hello!
I've been working...and working...on my MOORE family and have recently had a
few wonderful breakthru's....thanks to some Wonderful And Kind fellow
genealogists. So I'm passing it on. There are a few MOOREs listed in below
that are new to me and, hopefully, related to me.
Those of you w/ MOORE...please read thru this...I'm hoping you'll recognize
some one....or it may help you! .....or both : )
Here's the family as I first knew of them...
#71, 1880 Missouri, sheet 27 line 23
MOOR, John H. head w m 43 KY KY KY
" , Amos son w m 15 IN KY IN
" , Sarah E. dau w f 11 IL KY IN
" , Jas W. son w m 8 IL KY IN
" , John father w m 67 KY PA ( ) (this is my ONLY clue
to this man)
" , Sarah mil w f 54 KY PA ( )
(** a baby, Henry was b/d 1876, Mary died 1878)
My MOORE family settled in Johnson Co, MO c 1873-74. Mary died before the
1880 census. John died before the 1900 census...they lived in a burned
county...I have little to go on in MO on this family. But...I didn't give
up...read on!
Thru a kind person's lookup...just by chance we found each other...I found
James A. MOORE and family in the 1860 IN Census, Brazil Twp. His dau, Mary,
later married John H. MOORE. Yes...fun isn't it!
1860, IN, Clay, Brazil,
0899 0891 MOORE, James A. 35 Farmer KY line 01a
" , Sarah 35 Housekeeper KY
line 02a
" , Mary 11 IN
line 03a
" , James W. 2 IN
line 05a
" , John 7 IN
line 09a
(I wonder if the John in this census is suppose to be 7/12. James & Sarah
were said to have had 7 children...dau, Mary, is only one to live to
adulthood)
Then, 1850, thanks to the kindness of the transcriber of the census....
1850 IN, Clay, Jackson
Reel 138, Pg# 281A
512 512 MOORE, James 25 M Labourer KY
MOORE, Sarah 25 F KY
MOORE, Mary E. 2 F IN
MOORE, No name yet 4/12 F IN
MOORE, David 35 M KY
(I do not yet know how/if he is related)
These two census were of great help...but, I wondered, what happened to them
between 1860 IN census and the death of James A. MOORE (b1825) in 1874 MO. I
found, thru IRAD (via the USGenWeb IL site), that there was a marriage of a
John MOORE & Mary MOORE in Edgar Co, IL in 1864...I *think* this is them.
Then, once again, the kindness of another ....
from the death cert of Sarah "Sallie" MOORE (dau of John & Mary)
MAXWELL's
dau, Viola MAXWELL LETTERMAN,....Sallie was born in "Fulton, ILL".
Okay...Fulton Co or town of Fulton. The man looked them up in the 1870
Census of Fulton Co and * Bingo * there they were!!!!!!!!!!
This kind person sent me a copy out of a book and it included a few families
that "sounded" familiar. I went back the the online 1850 IN, Clay Co. census
and found several of them...I think. I am hoping that they are
related...heck...they seemed to have followed one another...I need to get
into land records to verify that. Anyway, take a look...there are a couple
of MOORE families listed below...
