The town known as Middlebury in Clay County is really named Martz. When the post office
was placed there it was determined that there was already a post office at a town
Middlebury in the northern part of the state, so the name was changed. A lot of local
people still refer to it as Middlebury. It is just south of Clay City at the junction of
SR59 and Sr246. It no longer has a post office.

I have record of a Dr Joshua J Phipps practicing medicine in
Middlebury in the 1880s. First, where was Middlebury... and 2) does
anyone have any information on this doctor?
