Charles Blanchard, COUNTY OF CLAY INDIANA; HISTORIAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL; 1884
Center Point located in Sugar Ridge Township, Clay Co., Indiana. [and is
always shown as two words]
While the village of Center Point is not as old as the county, it was laid
out for the ostensible purpose of securing the seat of justice, to which it
seems entitled on account of its close proximity to the geographical center
of the county.
The original plat was placed upon record the 18th day of September, 1856,
and shows sixteen lots and two streets, i. e., Main and Cherry. It is
situated on Section 4, Town 11 north, Range 6 west. . . .
In September, 1858 . . . an addition of fifty-six lots to the original plat.
The village was incorporated in the year 1872.

Cindy, the name is spelled as two words at the Post Office. Maybe the CLAY
COUNTY HISTORY Of 1884 would help clear it up. I know it was at the Center
Point
of the County!
