Can anyone tell me what's going on with the investigation into Brian E. Scobee's
death? Or, does anyone have the email address for the Sheriff or other investigative
persons? He had another wife, unmentioned in the articles, that have information they
would like to tell the authorities. Thanks in advance.

Brian E. Scobee, 45, rural Carbon, was pronounced dead at 5:02 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005,
on arrival at the emergency room of St. Vincent Clay Hospital. The death is under
investigation by the Clay County Coroner.
Born in Greencastle on Aug. 17, 1959, he had attended Greencastle High School and later
earned a G.E.D. certificate of completion.
He began working as a roofer in Greencastle, then later moved to Clay County where he
formed his own roofing company and contracted primarily residential jobs in Clay and
adjoining counties.
His first wife was Ruth Ann Hayes Scobee, whom he married Dec. 31, 1992, and who preceded
him Dec. 20, 2002. Also preceding were his grandparents, Emory and Katie Roe, Artie and
Opal Scobee, and his step-father, Don Alspaugh.
Surviving are his wife, Lisa Clements Bell Scobee, whom he married Dec. 21, 2004, in Clay
Co.; his mother, Lenora Alspaugh, Greencastle; his father Clifford Scobee, wife Billie,
Danville, Ind.; four sisters, Cathy Robinson, husband Gary, Carla Brown, husband Bary, and
Lori Richardson, all of Indianapolis; and Tosha App, husband Larry, Greencastle; two
brothers, Brad Alspaugh, wife Tara, Greencastle; and Tracy Alspaugh, wife, Dee Dee,
Indianapolis; thirteen nieces and nephews, one great-nephew, several aunts and uncles, and
best friends and former brothers-in-law, Ron, Randy, Bob, Rudolph, Richard and Rick Hayes,
all of Brazil.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National
Avenue, Brazil. Burial will be in Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday.

Carbon man dies after he exits moving vehicle
A rural Carbon man died Sunday from massive head injuries suffered while exiting a moving
vehicle.
Brian E. Scobee, 45, left a moving sport utility vehicle that his wife, Lisa, was driving,
police said. A family member found Scobee about 4:20 a.m. on County Road 200 West, south
of County Road 1350 North and called police, Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton said.
Scobee was pronounced dead at 5:02 a.m. in St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil.
Lisa Scobee was arrested on preliminary charges of false informing because she made false
statements to police about the circumstances surrounding the incident, said Sgt. Joe
Watts, Indiana State Police public information officer.
She remained in the Clay County Jail on Monday with bail at $5,000. Police continue to
investigate, Watts said.

Victims wife charged with giving false information to authorities
While investigating the death of a Brazil man over the weekend, the Indiana State Police
and the Clay County Sheriff's Department have arrested his wife for false informing.
Around 4:19 a.m., Sunday, emergency personnel from Dick Johnson Volunteer Fire Department
and Transcare responded to a 911 call requesting medical assistance in the area of CR 200W
and CR 1350N. They found Brian Scobee, of Carbon, laying partially in the roadway. He was
unconscious and unresponsive as medical personnel began CPR. Transported to St. Vincent
Clay Hospital, Scobee was pronnounced dead upon arrival.
The extent or type of injuries Scobee received were not being released by authorities this
morning.
An autopsy is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute.
While questioning witnesses concerning Scobee's death, Scobee's wife, Lisa Ann,
was arrested for reporting false information to authorities.
Lisa Ann Scobee is incarcerated in the Clay County Jail on $3,000 bond while she awaits
arraingment.
The investigation will continue today.

Victims wife, brother-in-law at Scobees side when police arrived, authorities say

Indiana State Police at Terre Haute has released further details of their joint
investigation with the Clay County Sheriff's Department into the death of a Carbon
resident Sunday morning.
Around 4:19 a.m., Sunday, emergency personnel responded to a 911 report of an unconscious
male victim and lying in the roadway on CR. 200 W. just south of CR. 1400 N. Upon arrival,
they found the victims wife, Lisa Ann Scobee, and her brother next to the victim. The
brother was performing CPR on the victim. The unconscious victim was transported to
St.Vincents Clay County Hospital
Brian E. Scobee, 46, of 2487 W. CR. 1400 N, Carbon, Ind., was pronounced dead after
arrival at the hospital. (See obituary, page 3.)
Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton requested that the Indiana State Police take the lead
during the investigation. A team, including ISP Detectives Tony Guinn, Troy Stanton, Jason
Calloway and Crime Scene Technician Andy Lohrman, was assigned to handle the
investigation.
During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the victim was a passenger in a
white SUV operated by Lisa Ann Scobee. The couple were traveling northbound on CR. 200 W.
between CR. 1350 N. and CR. 1400 N. when Scobee exited the moving vehicle. At press time
this morning, police were not saying why Scobee left the vehicle.
Lisa A. Scobee, 44, was arrested on one charge of False Informing, a Class B misdemeanor.
She could face 180 days in jail and be fined $1,000, if convicted.
An autopsy was performed by Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr at Terre Haute Regional Hospital
on Monday morning. Kohr concluded that Scobee died from massive head injuries, but no
determination of the cause for the injuries was released.
Officials are continuing their investigation.
