Hi Pat,
I don't have any information about the younger Slacks! John Slack b about
1766 served in the Rev. War alongside his father Henry Slack. This John was
married to Maria Margareta Auman in Frederick Co., MD. LDS Batch # N507711-2300
German Reformed Church Pg 1168 22 Sep 1789.
We know have proof thru DNA that Andrew AUMAN who was born 1762 in Adams
Co., PA was the father of Andrew, Henry, Martin and David ORMAN Sr as well as
George and Jacob AUMAN. Maria Margareta Auman Slack was the sister of Andrew
AUMAN b 1762. Their parents were Michael and Anna Margaret AUMAN. John Slack was
with George Washington when he fought in the Carolina's and probably saw all
the beautiful forested hills of Randolph Co., while on one or more of those
marches. We think that is why he and Margaret Auman Slack, Jacob and Mary
Auman Strider, Andrew and Barbara Luther Auman, George and wife Elizabeth Auman
Strider along with Michael Auman, their father moved to the Seagrove area of
Randolph Co., NC.
I am going to the Auman Reunion in October if I am able to walk any distance
at all. I will check the marriage record for John Slack and get back to you.
Are you aware that the Genealogy Society now has the Travis HISTORY of CLAY
COUNTY printed in 1907 available on a pair of CD's? It has a searchable index
and is making the discovery of all those mentioned in Vol. I easer to find.
