some of these sound like they could connect but I will have to work on
them a while.. I have the feeling most might connect to a lady in
Delaware however she is experiencing personal sickness as well as
computer troubles. give us a few weeks.
I wish I would have gotten this four days earlier I was at Fertig

Dear list,
After sharing information with various cousins, we have been able to
gather
the following information on our Cole and interconnected families.
Thank you
cousins for your gracious information! I have additional family
information
(from cousins) on the siblings of Jacob (Junior?).
I descend from Jacob and Christina Cole both b about 1804 and 1815,
respectively. Sometime after the 1850 census, their family moved from
Unity
Township, Westmoreland County, PA to Clay County, IN. The (presently
known)
children of Jacob and Christina (parents and children born in PA)
were:
1) Elizabeth Cole b- about 1828
2) Michael Cole b: 1831, d: 22 Mar 1863 TN married Sarah Maria
OBrian,
daughter of George OBrian and Sarah Britton, on 05 Oct 1856 in Clay
County,
IN
3) Jacob Cole (Junior?) b: 01 Feb 1835, d: 07 Apr 1893 AR- married
Mary Jane
Crafton b: abt 1839, daughter of James Crafton and Sarah Cromwell
(daughter
of Joshua Cromwell) of Clay County, IN on 18 Nov 1865 in Clay County,
IN.
4) John Cole b: abt 1838 (13 in 1850 census)
5) Mathias Cole b: abt 1840 (10 in 1850 census)
6) George Cole b: abt 1843 (7 in 1850 census)
7) Martha Cole b: abt 1846 (4 in 1850 census) married Theodore
Parish of
Clay County, IN.
According to the 1870 Clay County, IN census:
Jackson Township, Jacob Cole, 32 b-PA and wife Mary J (Mary Jane
Crafton),
25, b-IN are found on page 99. On page 103 there is a George Cole,
25, b-PA
and wife Mary J. 25 b-IN believed to be a brother to Jacob.
In Sugar Ridge Township is sister Martha, 23, b-PA, now married to
Theodore
Parish, 21, b-IN on page 167.
Found on the rolls of the 21st Regiment from the Clay County Indiana
Civil
War Soldiers list are Jacob Cole- enlisted Jan 1862, George Cole-
enlisted
30 Jan 1862 and John Cole- enlisted 30 Jan 1862. Jacob files for a
pension
in Indiana, then in Arkansas. Wife Mary J. Crafton Cole is named on
the
application. George and John are thought to possibly be Jacobs
brothers.
Their discharge dates are the same- 30 Jan 1865. Brother Michael Cole
was in
Company I, 85th Regiment. He mustered in 09 Aug 1862 and died 22 Mar
1863
at Columbia, TN, while being marched to a P.O.W. camp.
Jacob (Junior) and Mary Jane Crafton Cole had two children:
1) James Franklin Cole b: 22 Mar 1866 d: 13 Mar 1952 AR married
Elizabeth Frances Holt b: 16 Apr 1871 AR on 21 Jan 1891 in Ouachita
County,
AR.
2) Lucy Belle Cole b: abt 1868 (age 12 b: IL in 1880 Clay, Clay
County, IN census) married Levi John Neese b: 27 Mar 1857 IN, s/o
Henry
Neese and Catherine Key, on 02 Jan 1889 in Putnam County, IN. Both
buried in
Fertig Cemetery, Owen County, IN.
Sometime between the 1880 census and the marriage of James Franklin
Cole to
Elizabeth Holt in Jan 1891, Jacob (JR), Mary Jane and son James
Franklin
move to Ouachita County, AR. Daughter Lucy remained up north with her
husband.
There is a Baby Neese b: 05 Mar 1892, d: 10 Jul 1892 buried beside
my
great grandparents James Franklin and Elizabeth Holt Cole. They are
buried
in the Stephens Cemetery, Ouachita County, AR. This must be a child of
Lucy
and Levi Neese.
I would love to communicate and share information with anyone who
descends
from or knows of these families.
