Eric: No DSL service so couln not mover around your web site. I
would like to follow up on Nancy Pinkley. Both Robert and Wilson
Pinkley/Pinkney/Pinckney were illiterate (census records) so name
spelling may have been left to someone else. In the Eden R. Martin,
"History of SullivanCo., IL the and on Coles co,. IL marriage records
Wilson was both Pinckney and Pinkney. I also found a Benjamin
Pinckley in Coles co onthe 1840 census but missing in 1850. Both
spellings are probably correct The fact that Wilson Pinkney and
Martha Pinkley had merged their families and were so enumerated in
PoseyTwp., Clay co., IN 1850 Federal Census creates the obvious
question.
The oral history in the Reed family indicates Sarah Ann (Pinkney) Reed
claimed relationship to Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, aristocrat,
soldier and politician, b. in SC who attained flag rank and ran for VP
1800 & 1804 on the Federalist ticket. James Scott Matin, m. Mary
Virginia Feagle/Feagley. Their daughter, Mary Jane Martin m. Wilson
Pinkney/Pinckney/Pinkley, c
Clay co, IL 17 Aug 1837. A Feagle descendant was researching the
Pinckney family but apparently lost interest
Sarah Ann d. in 1879. Generations since have attempted to find her
without success until I stumbled onto the reason, i.e. the spelling of
the name. Any help or suggestion you may have will be appreciated.
Thanks, Joseph Reed Williams
P.S. The Ringo history indicates that Johnny Ringo who met the Earp
brothers in Tombstone is a member of that clan
