Hello! Our family made its way to Clay County in the late 1800's and very early
1900's. My earliest "proveable" ancestor is John Henry HARRIS, DOB 2/1804
Mifflin Co, PA & DOD 2/1881 in Tusc. County, OH. His son(George H.,a Civil War Vet),
was born in Tusc. County OH in 1/1830 and died in Raglesville IN on 2/18/1869. His son, my
GGrandfather DAVID H. HARRIS was born in Tusc. OH on 3/18/1851 and migrated along with his
parents to Washington County IN prior to the Civil War and later moved to Indianapolis
from ODON dying in Indianapolis in 1947, There were MANY brothers and sisters all along
that line of generations and travel, some ending up in Clay County, some in Greene County,
some in Morgan County and some in Martin and Vigo County. JOHn HENRY HARRIS' family
roots were from the Leipzig area in Geramny and/or Switzerland as were most of the BRIDES
and GROOMS CORRELL, MAYBACH, MAY, RUFENACHT and SOMMERs of all as late as the mid to late
1800s. DAVID H HARRIS owned several c!
ity blocks of property in ODON before his move to Indianapolis. I have many letters,
Embassy documents, etc.,all written in German and much more in Americanized German. I
haven't posted for some time but would be happy to share since along the line, my
brickwall continues to be JOHN HENRY HARRIS' parents. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you, Fred Harris
