Does anyone know if the Slacks and others moved to Ohio and then to Clay Co? I am still trying to find proof that Temperance Slack who married Lorenzo Dow Gilbert is a daughter of John Slack (son of John Slack and Marie Margaret Auman) and Elizabeth Wright.
Thanks,
Pat

The German Reformed Church where Margaret Auman and John Slack married was in Frederick City, Frederick Co., MD. Her father, Michael Auman lived in or near the town of New Market, PA before they all moved to Randolph Co., NC. I have a copy of John Slack's pension application if anyone wants quotes or copies from it. Mary

You should see the beautiful country where John acquired land in Randolph Co., NC! He had traveled thru that area while in service with Gen Washington during the war. I am sure that he was instrumental in leading his "cousins and friends" there. I have walked over land that was first purchased by George Luther, Michael Auman, Jacob Strider and the Slacks. It is much more hilly than the area is in Clay and Owen County, IN. Mary Gardner

Hello, I am curious about who Mary Graves parents might have been? I have several families who moved from the Randolph, Montgomery and Moore Co., NC area to Clay County. John Graves and wife Mary Smitherman plus his parents Samuel and Zilphia, came to Clay County. John was there in 1828. Cheap land was the biggest reason for moving there. The Orman brothers whose father Andrew Auman, was the brother of John Slack's wife, traveled there in 1831 from North Carolina by way of Blount Co., TN where they lived for about 11 years.

WOOLS
Sorry Alan, Daniel did not belong to the Bee Ridge Christian Church - he had
his own Wools School and Wools Church. Yes, I did know that he lived a few
miles from George McCullough. Yocums are also part of the family - wonder
why??? I guess because they lived close by like all other families that married
very near their home.
Thanks for the info anyway.
Carol

Hi,
I'm just starting to look into my family tree. I hope these are the same people. My dad's mom was Velma Ditzenberger who was the sister of Charles. Charleso married Gladys Bell and had two kids Esther and Paul.

I am from the line of Mathias's daughter Margaret. Do you have much on the family history before they got to America? I have some interesting things which include the connection to Madame Feree.
