SSGT Everett W. Stearley of Brazil, Indiana was killed June 23, 1942, while serving in the US Army Air Corps in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. He is buried at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines.
We have found the following reference at the Indiana State Library website; World War II database. We do not have the information because we do not have access to the microfilms here in the Philippines but we are hoping for some help from our posting. Our goal is to find the families of Indiana servicemen and present them with free photographs of their loved one’s grave sites or their names as they appear on the “Tablets”. This information will increase our chances of finding the families. Please help us!

Hello, I am a retired American veteran residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. A year ago we visited the memorial as visitors but came home with a mission in our hearts. As we gazed over the beautifully manicured acres and the 17,202 American graves, it was obvious only a few families had ever visited their graves.
I stepped into the soft grass and focused my camera on one of the white crosses, a grave of an Ohio soldier. A strange calmness was in the air as I walked a few more steps and a cross of an Indiana soldier lay square in my path. The letters of the inscription on the marker was bolder than ever, here lay a soldier from my home state.
At that moment a quiet brainstorm aroused my humble thoughts. I wondered if I could locate any of the families of these men. My stride became more defined and within a few moments I had located and photographed eight more graves.
Since those gut-wrenching but touching moments we have energized our efforts in finding the families of these American men from Indiana. We have located well over 100 and have delivered the FREE photographs to them via email.
Please visit our website and see the men we have honored and the families we have assisted in finding a more genuine closure of a horrible tragedy.

Our success in finding the families was the result of journalists, amateur genealogists, historians, historical societies, librarians and lots of wonderful Hoosiers and those with Indiana ties across America.
During our search we have also reached families from other states as well and have filled special requests for photos from the Manila American Cemetery. We presently have photographed only the graves of the Indiana soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen; however we have photographed all of the names that are engraved on the "Tablets of the Missing". We offer them free of charge to anyone who asks.
We ask for your help in finding their families. We understand this is a genealogy board but we do not need immediate genealogy in that form, we need leads to find the families. Please become one of our special volunteers today and find the family of an Indiana serviceman from near your home. A list of the men from your Indiana county is available, free and all you must do is request it.

James. In the 1880 census Alfred indicates he was born in Feb 1852. In the 1850 census for Ky, Spencer county, Dist 2, page 8, there was a family headed by Sanford Bridwell, 37, a farmer, born in Va, and included the following, all born in Ky: Celia, 36, - Rebecca, 6, - Mary, 12, - Stephen, 11, - Benjamin, 8, - Harrison, 4, and John T, 2. By the 1860 census the family had moved to Ind, Sullivan county, Jackson, page 202, and was again headed by Sanford Bridwell, 46, a farmer, born in Va, and included the following born in Ky; Lena (best I could make out but probably should be Celia), 44, - Benjamin, 20, - Harrison, 14, - John T, 10, and Alfred, 9, and the following born in Ind; Amos, 6, and Malvira, 1. In 1870 the family was still in the same township, page 24, and was again headed by Sanford Bridwell, 56, a farmer, born in Va, and included Celia, 50, keeeping house, Ky, - John T, 21, at home, Ky, - Alfred, 17, works on farm, Ky, - Amos, 13, In, - Melvira, 10, In, and !
William S, 8, In. Don't be concerned about the differences in age from census to census, quite common. Could't find a marriage for Sanford and Celia in the Ky records. Hope this helps. Don

Thank you for the info. I"ve often wondered if the Solomon Myers that
bought land from the government in Ripley and surrounding counties was the same
Solomon Myers that ended up in Clay County IN.
My McCulloughs were from Mt. Sterling. My 3G GF, John McCullough, moved
from Mt. Sterling to Ripley County IN around 1818.
His son George, went back to Mt. Sterling, bought land, married Rachel
Yocum, dauughter of the William Yocum you refer to and the man for whom Billtown
was named, and moved to Clay County IN in 1830. George was my 2G GF from a
second marriage. I have no relationship to the Yocums.
The entries I have for William Yocum in Mt. Sterling show that he was
married to a Susan Abel. After that, he was married to Polly Stewart. I don't
know which years.
Solomon Myers Jr. married a daughter of George McCullough. She would have
been a 2G Aunt of mine.
If you already have this info on Henry Myers, I apologize for the
redundancies.
The notes I have for Henry Myers also show that there were TWO Henry Myers
who had wives named Hannah living in KY in the same time frame. The Mt.
Sterling Henry Myers was an RW veteran. He bought land from Jacob Myers in 1794
in what is now Clark County.
He bought 700 acres and built a two story brick home in 1798. He built a
saw mill and a grist mill on the property prior to 1824.
Alan,
Solomon Myers Sr., was my great Great Grandfather. He was b.in PA, I have
his birth and death date and he is buried in the Billtown Cemetery. He married
in Montgomery Co., KY to Mary (Polly) Stewart and were in Orange Co., IN by
1820 and 1830. His brother-in-law was William Yocum who was m. to an older
Stewart sister. I have more information just haven't been working on it lately.
His daughter Nancy Myers was my great grandmother who married Jonathan Rice
Gerking. I have a picture of Solomon Jr. with his two sisters, Nancy Gerking
and Sarah (Sallie) Kirk. I believe Jr.'s wife was Sarah. They had a number of
children but only one lived to maturity and had children. I was in Brazil in
1976 and met Mabel , a granddaughter who was a lovely person. She said her
sister had no memory.
There were more than one Solomon Myers from Montgomery Co., KY. He only had
4 children. He was the son of a Henry Myers.
Let me know if I can help you.
Blessings,
Florence Bowe

You might be aware of this already. There were two Solomon Myers - a Jr.
and a Sr. I think Sr. was also in Clay County. I know Jr. was.
William Yocum was my 2G GF first father-in-law. George McCullough m Rachel
Yocum, William's daughter. They arrived in Clay County in 1830. George Mc
had land on Slate Creek in Montgomery County KY - probably not too far from
where William Yocum had his land before coming to Clay County in 1828.
As I recall, George McCullough's daughter married Solomon Myers Jr. I
forget her name right now.
Alan McCullough
I am descended from Solomon and Mary (Stewart) Myers who lived their last
days in Clay Co., IN. They came from Montgomery Co., KY to Orange Co., IN in
1820. I know about this other Solomon Myers who was the son of Henry Myers but
have never found a connection between the two families. They moved to Clay Co.
in 1834. He was a brother-in-law of William Yocum who m. Mary's sister.
Best wishes
