I need to find proof of Mary Etta Lee born in Ohio, (I don't know where). I find her in Decatur County, IND married to William Fields McCleerey March 17, 1834. Also married in this same county are Amos Harvey Lee in 1827, James Lee is also living this same county, and Silas Lee married May 4, 1834 in Decatur county. They are sons of Joseph Hiram Lee. Mary Etta and her family moved to Mapleton, Iowa in about 1850 and James and Silas also moved to Mapleton. This makes me think they could be her brothers. But I need proof. We are related to the McCleerey family. Silas also moved to Kansas with a grandson James Lee after his wife Anna died in Mapleton and he died in Kansas. The elder James died in Illinois. But I can find nothing that tells me that Mary Etta belongs to Joseph Hiram Lee. Mary Etta also named some of her large family, Nancy, Joseph, Silas, Francis, John. Mary Etta died in 1872 and that is before Monona county started keeping records of deaths.
Hope someone can help me solve this and give me the proof I need. Thank you so much. Fern

Am interested to know the 8 brothers and sisters of Amos Harvey Lee. We have a Mary Etta Lee who married William Field McCleerey. Mary Etta's family moved to Mapleton, Iowa as did James and Silas.
Hoping James and Silas are brothers of Mary Etta.
Have looked so long for her family. Thank you.

I'll bet if you call the County Clerk with the specifics, they'll send you a
copy for a nominal fee. :-) You know right where to go, so there is no
search involved.
They've done that for me before on a marriage record.

Hi, Jill:
My Jonathan Davis and Mary Lydia Moss were both born in Spencer County, Kentucky accoring to my records. Unfortunately, my computer crashed and I lost a lot of information. It has taken me a couple of years now to re-compile and re-enter the information onto the computer (thank goodness for CD burners! lol) ELIZABETH DAVIS (b. March 31, 1833 in Clay County, IN) is my GG-grandmother. Jonathan and Mary "Lydia" Moss were her parents. I have her brothers and sisters listed as:
Maranda Davis (F) b. 1835
Parker Davis (M) b. 1838
Charles Davis (M) b. 1840
William Davis (M) b. 1845
Susan Davis (F) b. 1847
I do know that at sometime after Elizabeth was born the family moved to Camden/Pulaski County, Missouri. I have located the family in the 1850 census in Missouri. I will be happy to share any other information as I "re-locate" it. Please note the change in my email address. Or just post your response here. Hope this helps a little!

You should check the Bolin family for Sherman. There were families of that name in Washington Twp. in that time frame.
The Clerk's Office may have some records relating to the boy being placed in that home. You will need to contact the Genealogy Society to do the search for you if you can't get there. research(a)ccgsilib.org

Is your Daniel related to Abraham Godfrey, also listed in the 1870 Indiana census, Clay co., Washington Twnshp? I'm interested in gaining any info on the 8-year old boy living with Abraham's family, Sherman Bowlen. Do you know of any connection between the Bowlen's and the Godfrey's? I think Sherman was orphaned and maybe this is the family that took him in.
Thanks in advance...
Cathy

Deb. Will assume I am the Don you want to ask the question of. David Owen married Winnie Tremper in Spencer county on 8 Jan 1893, source is book 10, page 479. This refers to the index of marriage records maintained by the clerk of the county court in the county of record. If you wanted to obtain a copy of the record, it would be helpful to the clerk to know that info. Hope this clears that for you. Don
