Kelly,
Could that be your John Schiele? I found him on rootsweb and the posting
says he was living in Ohio, in 1860. Only John Schiele I found in IN was in
1900 in Fairfield, Tippecanoe, IN married to a Lottie. His birth is listed
as 1836. I have Ancestry.com, that is how I found the passenger list. Jill

Thank you!

this does not pertain to US citizenship, however, if they were from the
Wurtenberg area Germany, there is a Wurtenberg Index of immigrants from that area
that you can get through the LDS family history libraries or through
Ancestry.com - you might be able to track down Sophia's maiden name and history
through that.

I am in need of someone to obtain the following information:
Naturalization/Immigration/Citizenship records for John Schiele (b. 1830) and his wife, Sophia (b. 1833, maiden name unknown). Both are from Wurttemberg, Germany.
I am guessing that John immigrated here in 1853. Census records indicate that to be true for Sophia. Legend has it that John & Sophia met on the boat from Germany. I cannot locate a marriage certificate. They have children together beginning in 1855 in Indiana, and by the 1870 census, John is listed as a naturalized citizen. I am assuming this means that his naturalization paperwork is filed In Clay County, Indiana. I am having a hard time tracking down this paperwork via phone. I would be willing to pay someone for time and expenses to get and mail this paperwork to me. Can anyone help??
Thank you!
~Kelly
I have a copy of a page from the 1870 census with my ancestor, John Schiele (listed as "John Sheely" on page 60 of M593_304, or printed page 14) and his family. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to match up this census listing with an actual map? I am trying to pin down a cemetery and knowing the actual address or map location of the homestead would help tremendously. Thank you.
~Kelly Schiele
