I am the administrator of Auman/Arman/Armon, Oermand, Ormand, and Orman
Family at familytreedna.com. I really need some help finding a man named AUMAN in
your area.
I am seeking a male descendent from either Elijah, Levi, or Peter AUMAN who
lived in Clay and Owen County, to submit a scraping for the Y chromosome. I
have a gift certificate which will pay for the test if I can find a gentleman
with the name AUMAN in Vigo, Clay or Owen County. It will only be valid until
Dec. 30, 2005. This group of Auman's came to the area by way of Tuscarawus
Co., OH before 1860. I think this group of Auman's may have been descended from
the Hessian Soldier who fought in the Revolutionary War against the Colonial
Army.
We have tested four Auman men, two from the Auman family in Centre and
Juniata, PA families. Two Orman's and two Auman's who are an exact match and can
trace their genealogy to Andrew AUMAN of Randolph and Moore Co., NC. We have
three others who have had their DNA tested. 2 Orman's have no matching markers
and one Orman who has a one step mutation from the Andrew Auman family. So
he is considered a match.
Thank you,
Mary Orman Gardner

Janet,
Jeffersonville is not in Clay County. The Orphanage in Clay County was
located in Knightville for many years. The building is now enlarged and is a
Nursing Home.

I am seeking any information on the Holt Orphanage in Jeffersonville, IN. I imagine that it was running in the 1800s' and probaby into the 1940-50's. I am looking for information on my gggm ( Hannah Le Aigner nee Allen) a former matron there in the late 1880's and into the 1900's. If anyone has any information on where I can get copies of old records and hopefully some old photo's, my cousin's and I woudl be so greatful..Thank's all, Janet H.
do you have an exact date of death for Nora Bennett Langley. You can go to
the library in Brazil and check the obit listing on newspaper archives that
they have microfilm there but you would need to have a date of death.
