Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Travis in his 1909 History of Clay Co. has a short piece on Mormans in Clay Co. ( 1830s and 40s). I know my wife's gg-grandfather George W. Duncan was involved with them for a while before his death in 1860.

Hello, I can't really provide much assistance to you in your search, but wanted to share that the Jehovah's Witnesses have "Kingdom Hall's" as opposed to Churches. I'm not really sure they were a very formally organized religion in the late 1800-1900's. They are headquartered out of New York - Watch Tower - and have a website. My grandfather in the 1920's became interested in the JW's(in Michigan) and he mostly attended Bible study groups at houses - no formal Kingdom Hall's existed then. I can't really add much about the Mormon's, but I'm sure their website would have info or their Family History Centers. Good luck, Sandy Sydlik

Subject: [INCLAY] Mormon or Jehovah's Witness
Hello everyone! It's been a while and I hope everyone is doing well and
their research is going well. I have found an old picture of one of my
ancestors - my grandma showed it to me. It has my ancestor (I believe it's
Samuel Frost) in a black suit and big hat. My grandma says she remembers
him as a Jehovah's Witness. Just in case I am asking about Mormon's as
well. Anyway when I went to the US Gen Website for Clay County, and hit the
Churches link, I didn't see either of the two religions listed. It does say
there are some older churches that the author may not know about. I was
wondering if anyone knew if there were Mormon or Jehovah's Witness Churches
anywhere in Clay County in the late 1800s to mid 1900s.
Thanks for any suggestions.

don't know if they exsisted in 1900's but if you connect to Frost name might
be able to give you a private address of someone who is Jehovah's Witness
and he mother was a Frost before marriage..

The library at Center Point has a Master Index of all the Cemeteries in Clay
County. They also have Cemetery Books available to purchase. Those completed
at this time are: Sugar Ridge Twp., Perry Twp., Cass Twp., Harrison Twp.,
Jackson Twp., and Dick Johnson Twp. If you are interested in purchasing one of
those books, I can give you the prices. Why don't you write directly to the
Library and request a search of the cemetery records? The cost is $10 payable in
advance plus an SASE. CCGSI PO Box 56 Center Point, IN 47804. I don't have a
copy of Jackson Township Cemeteries.

I have recently learned that my 3rd great-grandparents are buried in Wesley
Chapel Cemetery in Clay Co. Does anyone have any experience with this
cemetery to answer the following questions?
1. Does anyone know who the sexton or administrator is and how to contact
them?
2. Does anyone know what written records are available?
3. Can anyone provide me with specific directions to the cemetery?
4. Roughly how big is the cemetery?
5. Is it actively used today?
Any help that anyone could provide would be appreciated -- so far, my e-mail
to the Clay Co. Genealogical Society has gone unanswered, and I'm hoping to
be able to make a trip to the cemetery next week.
Thanks in advance!!
