Just read your post to Putnam Co., In Rootsweb in Jan 2000.
You mentioned the marriage of Martha Payne to a Carter.
Can you provide any more info on Martha?
I have a number of Payne marriages in my family and am always looking for more info on them.
Thanks
Mike

Announcement 11-10-2004:
The Historic Atlas Series: 19th Century County Maps now has its own domain:
http://www.historic-atlas-series.com
The former URL located on the HAR web site will remain for a limited time; so please change your bookmarks to continue visiting these web pages.
The current web site includes 19th century maps and atlases from: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. The state of Pennsylvania will be added in the next few weeks. Kentucky, Missouri and West Virginia are planned next year.
Individual county maps are useful for identifying 1874 transportation routes, railroads, canals, streams and rivers, cities, towns and villages, and early place names. One-room schools, churches, cemeteries and other cultural features are also included in the county maps.
The city and village plat maps in the Minnesota Atlas are often more detailed with many early property owners identified; industrial sites including a variety of stores, factories and mills; State and local government sites: cemeteries, churches, schools, fair grounds, race tracks, asylum & hospitals; and much more.
The high resolution digital map data is presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and the Adobe Acrobat Reader is included on each CD.
Thanks for reading,
Rich Green

I hope someone can help me solve a mystery. Christian EDINGER is in Posey Twp. Clay Co IN in 1850 with a wife Catharine and baby daughter Sarah. In 1860 he is in the same place with wife Clarinda and no children. Did Catharine and Sarah die? Are they listed in a cemetery book? Also what happened to Christian & Clarinda? The strange twist is that in 1852 a Catharine Edinger (right age) marries Daniel Collins in Vigo Co IN. This Daniel Collins is in Perry Twp. Clay Co IN in 1850. Are there divorce records from so long ago in case that is what happened to Christian's first marriage.

May I suggest you ladies visit the Clay County Genealogical Society on Main
Street in Center Point. Many years ago the Neidlinger Cemetery was walked and
the inscriptions on the stones there were copied. The Genealogy Library is
open on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday 1:00 to 4:PM. They thousands of records
for Clay County and will help you find the material you need.

I'm glad you were able to get into it and that you found Union. It looked
pretty bad when I was there and it makes me sad also.
Happy genealogy.
Pat

Can anyone tell me how to get to Neidlinger cemetery from Terre Haute. Also directions to Union Cemetery. I believe there are two Union Cemeteries (in Jackson and Lewis Twsp), so directions to both would be helpful. I will be visiting Terre Haute this weekend for a wedding and the Covered Bridge Fest and hope to also get to these cemeteries. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Charlene
