Oops, one piece of misinformation on the Wilson line! It was George Wilson and his wife Sarah Wigham, father of Robert Wilson (who married Margaret/Maggie Jenkins) that is my Wilson line (one of them). I have two out of clay county I've now realized :). The other is down from Austin Bond Wilson born August 25, 1848 in Harmony, Indiana. His father was John Wilson, Jr. and his mother was Elizabeth Von Cannon. Sorry for this confusion!

Subject: NC to Clay County, IN
Hello. I was wondering if anyone knows of any research done or book written on the migration of North Carolina families into Clay County, Indiana. As I get further and further back on my family lines out of Clay County it appears most of them were from either Randolph County, NC or Rowan County, NC. These are all on different lines too.
I've also now expanded my surnames list for Clay County:
Graves, Zenor, Lowdermilk, Schlatter, Steed, Ehret, Brenton, Borders, Beck, Truttier, Frost, Leslie, Wilson, Jenkins, Von Cannon, Schaeffer, Danner, Petty, Elson, Stallcop. If anyone wants to share any info on these surnames, I'd be interested. I also may have some info helpful to others. As for the Jenkins line every one has been writing the list serv about, those aren't my Jenkins. My Jenkins are descended from a Robert Jenkins who arrived in the mid 1800s from Scotland with his wife and daughter (daughter was Maggie, wife Mary). There are also various Wilson lines as well, mine are also mid-1800s immigrants, this time from England - John Wilson and wife Isabella.
Also, for those who aren't in Clay County much like myself, I have some gravestone pics of Lowdermilks, Frost, and Zenor I took when I was down there about a month ago doing genealogy research. If you want to see if I have a specific persons gravestone pic, let me know.

Marcellus Davis Funeral Wednesday
Services for miner, killed yesterday by fall of slate, at Knightsville.
Death comes instantly.
Mass of slate crushes whole top of head - was one of Knightsville most highly respected citizens.
The funeral of the late Aurelus Marcellus Davis, who was killed yesterday by a fall of slate in Glen Ayr Mine No. 1, at Glen Ayr, will be held at the Knightsville M.E. Church at 10 o'clock tomorrow. Rev. M.C. Bishop will preach the funeral sermon and the body will be laid to rest in the Harmony Cemetery.
Mr Davis was 31 years and 11 months of age. He was born in Jackson Twp, Parke County and cmae to this locality from Mecca. He was married to Miss Nettie Northway, of Knightsville and to this union one child was born, a small daughter, who with the widow, survive the unfortunate man. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America dn the Knightsville M.E. Church and was a prominent worker in the Sunday School at that place.
Besides the widow and child, his untimely death is mourned by the parents, Mr and Mrs Jesse M. dAvis of Augusta Indiana, three sisters and several other relatives and scores of close friends. The death is a shock to the family and is a source of great sorrow to a wide circle of friends who join the family in their sorrow.
After the inquest by the coroner of Vigo county, yesterday, the body wa brought to Lawson's Morgue and prepared for burial.
The weight and mass of the slate caught the unfortunate man on the head literally tearing away the cranium. Otherwise he appeared to have been uninjured. Before going to work yesterday Mr Davis expressed a desire to remain at home and not work at the mine. He was an operator of an electrical mining machine and a skilled workman.

Nick, Yes on both counts. He was mayor at one time. Everett was the son of
James Ezekiah Preston Jenkins (b. 1863). James was the son of William Thomas
Jenkins (b. 1832). William was the son of Ezekiah.
My connection is through William's wife Naomi O'Brien who is my great, great
aunt.

Hi,
Need to find Russel(l) Storms in Clay County, with wife Brenetta. This would be 2nd marriage for Brenetta, (if the correct one) so she should have a daughter living with them.
Russell would be about 33 years of age and her somewhere around 32.
I do know that in 1916, my Brenetta was living in Brazil, if this will help with a starting point for the look up.
Thank You!
Sheila
Hello. About a week ago I lost all my information on my computer. So, anyone waiting for return emails please re-email me your last message (if you have Microsoft Inbox you can look in the Sent File for these). If you don't have the ability to do so, I am terribly sorry I lost all your messages and email addresses. Happy genealogy hunting!

Hi,
I need death information on Brenetta J. Northway, AKA: Nettie. She married A. M. Davis in 1911 in Clay County. She was born in 1889 in Clay County and is the daughter of John Northway and Christina Nielson.
I believe she is the biological mother of my husband's dec'd grandmother. To help prove this, I need to know when she passed away. Her husband Aurelius Marcellus Davis died in 1915 and the only other time I have been able to find her and their only daughter was in 1916 when she got the settlement from her husbands death.
Please, if you can help with any information in this search, even just ideas, I could use the help.
Thank You!
Sheila

Hello: I would like any other information that you have on these families. I
have the information listing the names from the census but none of the other
information on the census forms. Do you know anything about these families?
