There is a cemetery in Clay County named Calcutta where a lot of those folks
from Cardonia, Diamond, Carbon and other small towns are buried. May not be
any help at all. Good luck.

without jumping to conclusions and getting all excited may I ask how you
connect to Charles and Rachael Morton? I think we may connect to each other if you aren't just researching for someone else. I don't know much but have a little and oh how I wish I had contacted you before the death of William Presley Morton before 1982. Do you have any Catherine Morton in you line? I will try to see what I have on this family I know it isn't much I was in contact with Presley Morton's daughter and she had written saying she was having some illiness and would get back with
me as soon as possible well we had one more contact and then she passed away. I could never even get an obituary stating much about her which was a real disappointment. I think she died in February of 2001 or 2002
in Marion County in Indianapolis Indiana.. She and her parents are buried in Crown Hill cemetery I think. Oh how I would love to be in contact with someone who had access to Mr. Morton's records.

He married Rachel Anna Casper in 1893 and had the following children: Minnie Rachel, Fred, Clifford, John Leslie & Walter Frank Danner between 1895-1914. Minnie Rachel married Ray Brown and moved to Illinois. I have some information on the other children as well if this family seems to fit yours.

I do know the following information and if anyone ever shed any light on the subject It would help.
I am searching for the following person :
Charles Jessup (no middle name) although the Cameron County Echo listed him as Charles B. Jessup during his enlistment for World War One. (Note : Charles B. Jessup enlisted in Florida, so how he got to Florida to enlist in the War - I have no idea. )
He was born in Clay City, Indiana (we think) his birth year on his papers is February 12, 1896 and he died while resting on his proch swing in Emporium PA (he had a heart attack) on May 1969. He fathered two children and was married to Geraldine Marie Smith in Emporium PA. He meet her while he was working with the CCC he was associated with the Charles Baer Camp and he is listed there.
His stories also talk about being stationed in the Pittsburgh Area while working with the CCC.
While I was in the fifth grade I interviwed him for a paper on WWI.
Yes, I have asked and have written several time trying to find his Service Papers - NOTHING ??????
Yes, I have asked the Clay County Genealogy Society for help and assistance on this - they are looking for some leads for me thinking that he may have been under another name .
I have found a lot of information the Jessup family and the step-brothers and sisters. But I have not found anything to confirm that Silas is really his father.
Silas and Libby had several children;
Miles 1888
Anne 1891
Unknown 1892
************** My Grandfather was born in 1896, Charles Jessup but his mother was named Sarah Fiscus. (Social Security papers.)
Bernice 1898
William Jennings Bryan Jessup 1901
Grace and Gretchen 1909
Silas C. 1910
Mary 1914
The Silas that is married to Libby (Elizabeth) is his father and his mother Sarah Fiscus (they were never married). Sarah married when Grandpa was young (A baby) I did find a Sarah Fiscus married to a Lewis V Hinds same year so I wonder if that is her, 1896. But I am not sure on it. Mom said that when they visted Sarah's house that she remembered a picture on the wall of Sarah and the man she married and Grandpa as a baby in the picture.
I know that Silas is the Father cause when my Mom was young they used to go to Indiana to visit and Ann Jessup (Step Sister married to a Harvey Hetrick/Hedrick) also came to PA to visit in the 60's. The kids to Silas and Libby referred to my Grandfather as their step brother. Two brothers lived in Mount Vernon Ohio when they went through the area they would visit William JB Jessup (Miles had died the year before they went back to Indiana). Miles had died in 1944 (according to the gravestone) so I would think that they started back to Indiana for summer trips to work the farm after that.
My Mom was born in 1937 in PA so she remember when she was 16 the last trip to Indiana; They stopped in Mount Vernon Ohio and Annabelle (the daughter to William JB) was getting married to Merle Hedrick (the son of Anne Jessup).
Sarah was getting poor in health and they knew that the summer trips to help on the farm would not be lasting much longer. I guess the trip was memborable by my mom cause she got to help drive during the trip. (1952 would of been the year)
Shortly after that William JB Jessup had retired and moved to Long Island New York and died in 1954.
When my Grandmother died in 1986 my Mom received a letter from a Noimi Limp - she stated that she was cousin to my Grandparents. Although when I wrote asking for information I received my letter back with a note stating that no one could help me.
