In the 1840 Clay Co. Census, Isaiah Duncan is listed just below George W. Duncan, who is from my Duncan line. Does anyone know if Geo. and Isaiah were related somehow? Or is this just a coincidence?

I am researching Clay County for John Enos Smith, born 11 Sep, 1899 in Ashboro I have no information regarding the parents of Alecia Starrett, who also married John Smith, the elder and I would love any help on either of them.
Thanks, Barbara Shelton bjshelton1940(a)aol.com

Hello Sharon: Thank you for this information. I am sorry I was confusing
when Laura wasn't there I thought maybe she would be already married and in
Kentucky. I know that several of her ten children were born in Laurel
County, Ky. My information on this family is very sketchy. I have Alfred's
linage but can never find him. I am wondering if he sometimes went by the
name Charles and I have seen Hoback spelled Hoeback, Haughbaugh, Habaugh, Haub
augh. The first two seem to be the spelling of what I have from entering
this country. The other spelling being another family I think. Can you maybe
find a James Galaghar Loughmiller married to Mahala Jane Stubblefied? There
are two Mahala Jane Stubblefields I know because on in Illinois and Missouri
but she is not the right one. She was married to a Monroe Lucky. Both James
and Mahala Jane were born in Tennessee. This is the parents of John
Loughmiller married to Laura Hoback. The Loughmillers are all over in Indiana
too. Large families with the same names. There is another James Galaghar
also but he died young and was a cousin. Our James has one brother who lived
named John Morrison Loughmiller. I really do appreciate the help and time you
are taking. I love the genealogy but sometimes it is frustrating and everyone
is dead and nothing was passed on at least in my husbands families. Thanks
again.

Hello again Sharon: On the Hoback could you try Kentucky in the 1880 census
and see if she is living with a daughter named Anna Laura and John
Loughmiller. Laurel County was where most of Lauras children were born. One
of the oldest daughter was Margaret born in 1882. I believe there is at
least one child older then Margaret Loughmiller. Thank you.

I am looking for an Alfred Charles Hoback who was born in 1829 in Wythe
Virginia. Wife's name is Margaretta Summerton/Sumerton born in Canada in
1833. Margaretta is buried in Clay County Indiana. She is still in the
census in 1900 Clay County. I know they lived in Maine where the oldest son
was born and Tennessee where a daughter was born abt 1860 and they lived in
Kentucky and Indiana. Do not know when Alfred died or where. Take your time.
He has been dead for a long time now. I would like the information of the
house before them and after them and the names of the people if possable.
Lots of times that is family too just with a different name. Again thank
you
Kaye
Kay,
I have the Family History Center (LDS) 1880 National Census. According to
this, Margaret Hoback was already a widow in 1880:
1880, Washington, Daviess County, Indiana; T9-0271, Pg 518a:
Margaret Hoback Self 42 Widow b. Sou Canada
Fa: England Mo: Canada
Charles Hoback Son 20 b. Maine fa: Virginia
Mo: Canada Miner
I also have the 1870 Indiana Census; there is no Margaret (or any form of
the name), Alfred, or Charles Hoback listed.
The family on one side of Margaret in 1880 is the John Cutar family;
husband, wife and children all born in Switzerland. On the other side is
George Brust Self 50 NJ -- -- Blacksmith
Lizie Wife 30 IN Eng IN

the CDs cover just name etc of places of birth house holds and parents
