I spent Saturday evening looking at the Kirchenbuch, 1640-1887, parish records for Eppingen, Heidelburg, Baden and found some Foernsel & Suender (Sinder) records which had not been extracted and placed on the LDS IGI. Among them, my gg mother Eva Elisabeth Foernsel b 1808. I was looking particularly at film #1189091, the last item "Taufen 1776-1819 (Reformierte). Next Saturday, I'm going to continue to look at these films and will pass along anything I find. I did find a Phillip Foernsel, bap 5 November 1818, born to Johan Jacob Foernsel and Elizabetha Kammin. Sponsors for baptism were Jacob Kamm and his wife Eva Margaretha Phrundern. Also, a Phillip Foernsel who died 31 Aug 1827 age 5 months, son of Jacob Foernsel and Charlotte Zaft(?). Anyone with access to these films should be able to find the birth records for the Phillip and John who settled in Clay County.

Is there some kind soul who has available the WPA death index for Clay county? Or cemetery listings?
I am looking for a death date for America Hankins / Hawkins (it appears both ways) (born in 1827 in Kentucky.) She was living in Carbon in 1900 with her husband Gilbert b 1816. (And his death too if it is there.)
Thanks much

Sorry Rebecca, but I was looking for some Hendricks County lines, happened across the previously posted obituary, and posted it to help others. I am not related nor do I have any further information. I hope someone else on this board or mailing list will be able to help.
Rebecca K. Bass asked:
this caught my attention with the BASS name but I don't know who Charles and Margaret Bass are. I would like to ask if they are Black or White as there was at one time both in Brazil .. both black bass and white bass.. There was a Barber in town of Brazil one time that was suppose to be
Black and a good barber I am told. I have never had much success tracing the BASS line but have a few -- I know Franz Sigel Bass was said to have married Ellen Susannah Rebecca
Parkins.. in Ripley W VA I think they had a son Theodore Bass who married Laura May Bryan in Brazil I don't know exactly when but they had several children and are buried in Summit Lawn Cemetery.. Laura was a Howald when she died but is buried next to Theodore and the Howald man is buried next to his other wife.. Theodore Bass was said to have been hurt on the railroad and died in 1931. Laura died some time before 1949.
I have a Polly Helton, dau of Henry Helton & Easter Helton (cousins). My source doesn't list many dates, but Easter was born before 1784 and died about 1836 in Shelbyville, Illinois, so this Polly was probably born 1800-1830.

What I found in the 1880 census matches what Rick found for 1870:
1880 Clay County, Lewis Twp, T9-270, Pg 602D
Polly J Koloday Self Widow 46 IN NC KY
M R Gentry Son 17 IN NC IN Farmer
(Koloday is the transcribed spelling; not mine; would be easy to read an H as a K)

Virginia, There is a Manson Gentry, age 7, listed in the 1870 census as living with the David Holladay family. I believe he is the son of Polly Holladay, David's sister, who was living with the family at this time but have nothing further to support this. The fact that Manson died in the facility you mentioned was probably caused by doing family research.......Rick

Actually, I grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Manual High School in 1967 (moved to Utah in 1973). Most of my family still lives there and I'm planning a trip home this spring to see my aunts and uncles while they are still living. I've seen Foernsel spelled Frensel, Farnsell, Ferncel so you never know - those Frenzel's might just be related. In the German records, Foernsel looks like it's spelled Foernzel.
