This book has no cover, and no index, and no author. I bought it on Ebay; it just has the insides, but it is full of Indiana biographies. I am not researching this family, just thought I would share. I do not know anymore about these families or these surnames. NOTE: I don’t know if there is any additional mention of this family in the book, it has no index. I do not want to sell this book. I am typing the biographies from it.

I totally enjoyed the opportunity to read your account of Jack Baber's life.
Thank you for a wonderful historical journey. My roots are from the same
areas. I delight with the thought that my ancestors would have read those
same newpaper articles and am sure that Uncle Jack probably touched their
lives in some way. I am originally from Clay Co....my ancestors were
Evans/Franklin/Maners/Rodgers/Slavens
These were strong names in Owen/Clay Co.
Again, thank you for the window into history !

In 1900, in the Clay County Census, Jackson Twp, T623 Roll 363 p. 133,
W. C. Lowdermilk, Line 44
At the bottom of the page he has a 13 year old daughter whose name appears
to be Delzena. Whether she is "Ollie" I can't say!
The Nelson Loudermilk family in Jackson Twp has 6 sons, no daughters.
The Vincent Loudermilk family in Sugar Ridge Twp has a daughter Ethel who is
10 and a daughter Esther who is 16, otherwise, sons.

Wayne,
If you don't find someone who knows the girl, put a copy of the picture in
the Loudermilk and Muncie files at CCGS Library. Someone may come up with the
identity for you.
While sorting through some pictures my grandparents had I find a picture
of an unknown Loudermilk
girl. She seems to be a teen ager from around 1900, seated, holding a
guitar on her lap. The name on the back, in my grandmother's handwriting
is "Olie Loudermilk". Does anyone know how this Olie Loudermilk would
be, her parents, etc. My grandfather, Wm. Leonard Muncie was related to
the
Lowdermilk/Loudermilks in a couple of different ways.
Any help much appreciated.

Did you exagerate about the number of greats? Ray H Marlow married Mary J Myers in Clay county on 1 Nov 1911, source is book 16, page 427. In the 1920 census for Vigo county, Riley township, ED 182, page 6A, there was a family headed by Ray H Marlow, 29, a farmer, which included his wife, Mary J, 27, his son Eugene, 6, his daughterr Roma, 5 6/12, his son Edgar, 2 4/12, and daughter Erma, 10/12. In the 1930 census for the same township, ED 64, page 11A, there was a family headed by H Ray Marlow, 40, a miner, which included his wife Mary J, 37, his son Eugene B, 16, his daughter Roma M, 15, his son Edgar E, 12, his daughter Erma B, 11, his son Ray J, 8, and his son Charles R, 2. In both census everyone was born in Indiana as were both parents. Hope this helps. Good luck. Don

Bill;
Perhaps you might remember me by the fact I verified some Sullivan Co.,Mo.marriages of Breedings earlier this year.
I am apparently related to James Alexander Breeding's wife
and children as Samantha Anne Hines was a first cousin to
my great-grandmother Margaret Amanda (Hines) Hostetter.
I like you am not sure if Clarissa is one of Benjamin and
Charity's children or perhaps she was missed when the
family was 1st enumerated.I also did not have Benjamin P.
that was age 3 in 1860.
William A.Breeding's age from the 1860 Census does not
agree with the obit date listed for Wilkins P.Breeding either.
According to a newspaper clipping on microfilm at our local
library Wilkins P.Breeding's dates were:21 Mar 1859-17 Mar
1934.
Also you are correct in that Charity (Griffith) Breeding located
to Sullivan Co.,Mo.sometime before 1900 as she is listed there with her son Joshua Marion Breeding in Duncan twp.
I have not tried locating a death certificate for James
Alexander Breeding and don't remember ever seeing an obit
printed for him here in Sullivan Co.,Mo.which to me seems
odd since most of his family was living here at that time.

The 1870 census from Harrison Twp., Clay Co. IN, dated 29 July 1870, Sheet 81, lines 11-18, Dwelling 401, Family 392, Roll 304
Surname Breeding, all were born in IN
Benjamin 45 m Fm labor
Charity 30 f
Wilkens 12 m
Joshua 8 m
Alex 6 m
Samuel 5 m
Mary E 1 f
Clarissa 16 f
With Clarissa being out of chronological order, one could suspect that she may not be a daughter in this family. Or she just could have been listed last for some reason.
In 1860, the children of Benjamin and Charity were Melissa, age 7, William A, age 3 and Benjamin P, age 3. It could be that Melissa and Clarissa are the same and I suspect that William is Wilkens.
Benjamin appears to have died before the 1880 census as Charity and the children are scattered all over Clay Co. By 1900 she and her sister relocated to Duncan Twp, Sullivan Co, Missouri. More likey before 1886, since James A married Samantha Hines in MO about that time.
I am currently working on the assumption that the Alexander of the early census is the same as James A of 1900 and later census in Missouri, The latest I have found James is in the 1920 MO census. I have not tried to locate a death record for James to verify that he is the son of Benjamin.
You have some detailed information as to first and last names that I have not seen. Are you related to this Breeding family? I believe Charity Griffith Breeding was a niece of my 2nd great grandmother

Many German-speaking people in Owen, Clay,
and adjoining families were also German Baptists
(Dunkard) and some later became members of The
Disciples of Christ or Church of Christ. A story on
the Mennonites (and Bauer/Bower Cemetery)
appeared in the Spencer Evening World and the
Clay City newspaper in January, l994. The Owen
County Public Library at Spencer and the Clay
County Genealogy Library at Center Point have
copies of the article. Check for the Swiss/German
names in the Owen CountyDAR book of gravestone
inscriptions particularly in western Owen which
adjoins Clay. ~~Dixie Kline Richardson

If anyone out there has any information on this lady please let me know. She came to IN with four boys in 1869. Those boys were John W. 16, Isaac 15, James F. 12, Henry 10. ALL of the boys last names were Sharp. She left TN as a 37 year old spinster. Married a 67 yr. old George Taylor in KY and moved on the IN with the boys. The move was in 1869. They are in the 1870 census under George and Delilah Taylor without the Sharp name. Within two years two of the young men and working and using the name of Sharp. In the 1900 census, Isaac is single and Delilah is living with him. Relationship "mother". On James F. Sharp's death certificate his father is listed as Henry Sharp TN, no mother's name. All boys were born in TN, father TN, mother AL. I have had some wonderful help along the way to get me this far. It seems I am going to almost have a hand down story to move on. Whose children were these?
Thanks,
