I have spent over an hour checking my Rector records in Indiana and did not find a Leander Rector. I would get a copy of your grandmother's death record which should have her parents name on it. Then you will have the correct spelling.

South on SR 59 out of Brazil. South edge of town near Natl Guard Armory take White Rock Rd left(west) to CR 200 W. I think White Rock Rd. ends there. Take CR 200 W to left(south). Summit Lawn is on left about 1/2 mile or so.
you got it that is correct.. or go SR 59 North from I 70 to Billville
Road which is 800 N now. and turn left at First State Bank and go to
Berea Church about 2 miles and turn left at Berea and go south about 1/2
mile cemtery is on the right.

Bowling Green, Washington Twp., Clay County, IN was settled about 1822 by a
large number of German's from North Carolina. It was the county seat of Clay
County when it was organized in 1825. In November 1951, the Court House
burned, but Bowling Green was still the county seat until 1877 when it was
moved to Brazil, IN. It was a bustling small town for many years. It is still
a nice small town located on St. Rd. 46.

Dear Alan,
My family is descended from James and I believe that William was his brother. I
will share what I can soon if you don't mind waiting. I haven't anything much
other than my line. All the best, Marge:)

The old notes that I have on Summit Lawn Cemetery state it is in located in
Posey Twp. on South Waterworks Rd.
I take US 40 going west from the center of Brazil, stay on US 40 as it veers
left, there is a Dairy Queen on the right side of the road and a set of
railroad tracks. Cross the railroad tracks and make the first left turn
possible. It is possible that the street sign may now read Achamm Dr. I
believe the cemetery is a few miles down this road. I remember a four way
stop sign with the Berea Christian church on the left side of the road.
Continue straight, and Summit Lawn will be on your right.
Perhaps these very general directions can prompt someone more local to make
corrections or help with any detour/redirections.

Can someone describe what Bowling Green, IN was in the mid 1800s? A town, a
township, or a rural area known by that name? Thank you all very much.
