I am looking for any information anyone might have about people from these famillies. I have a lot of information on the family of O'Neal back to their move from Ireland, when they were known as Neal. I also have limited information on the family of Alsip. If you know anything about these families, please e-mail me.

The Vigo County Library has a Wabash Valley Obit Index online which includes many Clay County deaths. The following is from that index:
Ora H Reeves, 49/03/08, Mrs., 84, Pg 02 Trib
Ora H Reeves, 53/03/14, Eldr, 89, Pg 02 Trib
The date is the publication date and it is read YR/MO/DA. You can request copies of the obits from the library. They charge $1.00 each and the email address for the request is obits(a)vigo.lib.in.us They are located at 1 Library Square, Terre Haute, IN 47807 (812) 232-1113.
The database is located at: http://165.138.44.12/
Your best bet for finding out about the cemetery will be the Clay County Genealogical Society and they can be contacted by email through the link on the Clay County web page.
Hope this helps,
Sharon

Can someone tell me the name & address of the local newspaper where I can get a copy of an obit? Also how do I contact the managers of Calcutta Cemetary? My grandfather is supposedly buried there, but I think it must be in an unmarked grave. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If you do not find out about "Dear Corners, IL." was/is by Thurs., I will
look it up tomorrow evening when I go to the Gen. Society.

Go to Sweet Owen cemeteries site. Winters is in Owen Co.
There is a list of graves.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rowan/winters.htm
To get to cemetery: Take SR59 south about 4 miles from Clay City to a county road # 1250 turn left ( this is first road north of the river bridge) I think there is a sign for Wilson Cemetery on the NE corner. About a mile east there is a T intersection(Wilson Cemetery on NW corner. Turn right a short distance turn left on CR 175 this runs into CR 1275(to left) continue past second cross road(county line) about 1/4 mile there is a lane to Winters on the right. I am not sure if there is a sign there any more.
Thanks for your reply about my gggrandfather, Thomas Markley.

I don't know these names but maybe this is something
to think about.
My husband is Joseph Raymond Teeguarden and his mother
was Alice Mae Hinote. Her mother was believed to be
Eliabeth Frensel. My husband had an Uncle Jake and an Aunt Polly Frensel and they lived on a farm in Clay County.
Their house was sold to a mining company and when they
tore down the big house they found the log cabin was built around. The log cabin was donated to the town of Brazil and they put it in a park and furnished it with furniture of the time.
It may still be there. It was near Ashbobo or Centerpoint. It was so nice reading what you have posted.
Any help? I am looking for the Frensels. Marilynn

They also have the information from the local Funeral Home Directors records
