Perhaps stating the obvious here, but Samuel H Cole appears on the
1870 census, Marion County, page 262, according to the index.
Also, there is a Samuel Cole in the 1890 Terre Haute directory,
occupation farmer, Lost Creek Twp., Staunton post office.

In the recent issue of the Clay County Researcher I found mentioned some possible family connections. I was wondering if anyone had more info on them.
Jacob MOON, deceased 1854 (Was this Adam B. MOON's father, my ggg-grandfather?) Adam's father was Jacob MOON. I thought he had died in Logan Co, OH, but maybe he did come to Clay Co? According to the "History of Clay Co by Travis, Adam came to Clay Co in 1856.
James J. MOON Adm. of Levi Pucket's Estate 1854
M. MOON and William MOON signed petition to stop the building of new court house, Dec 1851 .
Anyone else researching MOON's?

Surname: Riggs
-------------------------
I am looking to find a connection between John M. Riggs(b. 1838 in Campbell
Co, TN- d. Dec 27, 1891 in Clay Co, IN) and a William Riggs.
William was born abt.1836 in TN and moved to Clay Co, IN.
He was married in TN to a Caroline Taylor.
IF this is the brother of John M., I believe that his children would be:
George W.
John T.
James F.( possibly Frank riggs on the 1900 Census??
Mary Elizabeth
and possibly more.
If I can connect John M. Riggs and William Riggs, then I would have a complete
coneection for most of the Riggs in Clay Co/Vigo Counties.
If anyone would do a lookup on any death records, or any other means for
this time period, That would be greatly appreciated.
John M. Riggs and William Riggs came to Clay Co, TN about or after 1860,
and William, I'm not sure when he died.
thanks!!!
Any info on any of the Riggs listed above might be of help!

Mary,
I have three Clay County Henry Christy's in my tree. Born 1805, 1827 and
1833. I do not have a listing for Catherine Beddow but have no wife for my
1833 Henry. I would be interested in any info. Thanks.

Surname: Griffith, Phipps, Dalton
-------------------------
Indeed this is the Charity Griffith of Clay Co that I am looking for. The
family becomes confusing since there are 2 Bartlett's and 3 Joseph's. Bartlett
One was the father of Joseph One, b. 1785. Joseph One had sons, Joseph
Two, b. 1820 and Bartlett Two, b. 1809. Bartlett Two had a son, Joseph
Three, b. 1833. All dates are approximate.
Making it more confusing is the fact Joseph Two and Bartlett Two both died
circa 1855. I have a series of land sales in Clay Co and it seems that
the disposition of Joseph Two's land went to his heirs and to the heirs
of Bartlett Two. I can separate the greater majority of the different heirs,
but Charity was a wild card.
You have specific death dates for Benjamin and Charity indicating that
you have good sources for those. Believe that we can link Charity to Joseph,
would love to exchange information. Contact me at:photobuff@argphotoshop.com

Surname: Breeding, Griffith
-------------------------
Benjamin Griffith died in Clay County, Feb 4, 1875 and Charity died in
Sullivan County MO, 5 Aug 1913. They were married Feb 26, 1852. I believe
Charity's father was Joseph Griffith, son of Joseph Griffith and brother
to Bartlett Griffith, but have no proof at this time.
If some angel has access to the 1830 census, would you please
lookup the following person? Need number of persons and age groups.
1830 COFFELT GEORGE (Part of Owen Co., IN) Clay Co., IN 265 No Twp
Thank you for this kindness!!

Hello again,
After I read your last e-mail, I went to the 1880 Census and found Effie
Stewart living with her father John H Stewart in Posey Twp, Clay Co.
Apparently her mother had died as it indicated her father was widowed. All
were born in IN and John's parents were born in KY.
Pat
Was James born in KY?
I will keep my eyes peeled, and you, too.
I have a feeling that my John Stephen's parents came up from KY about the
same time as his wife's, Martha/Marchess Stewart.
