Does anyone know if the various offices that have records relating to genealogy research will be open this week?

Thank you in advance,

There are other Daugherty's listed but in different townships.
Errors in obits and on death certificates is a very good subject as have
found numerous instances. Very often, the person with the most information is
not the one who was the informant. Even worse is the years, months, days that
someone lived as found on one of the older death certificates. Have found the
preponderance of them to be wrong. Don't know if that came from a faulty
"calculation table," or just someone in distress who looked at the wrong line
as some of those errors do have correct DOB and DOD.
Tombstones are better, but certainly not absolutes, as have found many with
either an error in the names or dates and, again, those old "calculation
tables" as to time lived.

My g-grandfather was Charles Molle. He came to America around 1871 from the Alsace to avoid the Franco-Prussian War. He settled in Louisville, then moved to Indiana across the river and died in 1910.
Do we have a connection.

I noticed several errors in the obit, so I can see how people get off track
when using information form an old newspaper obit. Randy C. Chapman - Vol. 1
#267
I was happy to see Randy Chapman tell about errors in the obits. I'm doing
research in the
Jackson and Brown Co. IN. and one lady INSISTS that the name is Thomas Payne
CORDELL
and not Thomas Presley CORDELL as she had proof from a newspaper obit. We
can't always
count on them as the folks turning the info in are upset over a death in the
family and/or don't
really know the correct information to give. Thank you Randy. Jan BAldwin

Barb,
I have received new info on the Hills from Connecticut. If you e-mail me at
mem(a)shelbynet.net, I will send you a genealogy report with the new info.
Thanks,

Thank you for my g.g.grandfathers obit. I noticed several errors in the obit, so I can see how people get off track when using information form an old newspaper obit. You might enjoy the fact that Linzy's son-in-law, Robert Crabb, was your next obit.
Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
