Bill,
1860 Indiana Census has the following:
Breeding, Benjaman P, 34, b. IN, Farmer, $600 Real Prop, $300 Pers., Not
Literate
Charita, 26, b. IN, Weaver
Melissa, 7
Benjamin P., 3
Wilkins B., 3
Also, I finally found someone on my FTM Indiana Marriage CD! Benjamin
Breeding married Charity Griffith May 4, 1852. I know you had 1858 in your
query, but since they had a 7 year old daughter in 1860, would think this
date is the correct one. Also, her age in this census, appears to go along
with what you found in the 1850 census.
Hope this helps,

Subject: Breeding, Benjamin & Charity (Griffith)
> Looking for information on Benjamin and Charity (Griffith) Breeding. They
were married in Clay Co in 1858 and I know from indexes they were there for
the census in 1860 and 1870. The 1870 census information I have found on
line lists her age as 30. Does anyone have access to the 1860 census that
would give her age in that census? I believe that she is found in the 1850
census in the household of Sampson Phipps at the age of 15. This obviously
is in disagreement with the 1870 census information.

I, Too, am searching for a McClelland , pres. from Clay Co, IN.
Maybe there is a connection with brothers.
I am searching for Descendants of Armilda Louise Riggs(1857-1951) who was
married to Edward Cooper(1858-1931)
Their daughter Elsie(1899-1991) was married several times, but at one point
married to a George Mclelland(1904-1986)
Any info on these people would be greatly apprec. I have George's death
certificate from CA. Any help with the Cooper's, Rigg's, or McClelland's
would be appreciated, and I'd be glad to share. lnelson(a)bluemarble.net

I am trying to find information that Sarah REED who married George BOLICK is
the sister of Martha Cynthalia REED who married Henry BOLICK of Clay Co.
Indiana. I know Martha returned to Stoddard Co. Missouri with her children
after the death of her husband in Clay Co., Indiana. I know Henry BOLICK had
a brother George. Is this the same George BOLICK who is buried in North
Antioch Cemetery outside Bloomfield, Missouri?. Any information would be
appreciated.
I have Sarah and Martha's parents as John Reed and Eady Lough (Lowe). From
Stoddard Co., Missouri.
Is there a connection between these REED's and other REED's in Clay Co.,
Indiana?

Am looking for any and all information on Benjamin and Charity (Griffith)
Breeding. They were married in 1858 in Clay Co and listed in the 1860 and
1870 census of Clay Co. Anyone know of death dates, later census, or cemetery
listings for these two - or their children (if any)? My interest is in
determing the parents of Charity and her birth date.

I know of 2 George Phipps in Clay Co., but I do not know who either of
them married. I have a George C Griffith, b. 1867 who was the son of Sampson

and Elizabeth Griffith. If either one of these is a possibility, let me
know.

I have a Levi Griffith, b. c1852 in the 1860 census of Clay Co in the household
of Joseph Griffith. I am assuming that you have later tracks of Levi. Year
of marriage, later census, and some idea as to when (and where?) he died.
I do not know if this is the Levi you are searching for, but it is the
only one I have found to date in Clay. I am trying to tie the Griffith,
Phipps and Dalton families together and this may be a clue.
I have searched everywhere and can't find
the e-mail address for the Times that I once
had.
I did contribute to and bought a book from
them called "Faces & Places of Clay County
Indiana".
In with that correspondence I have the
address 100 N. Meridian St., or
P. O. Box 429, Brazil,Indiana 47834
Phone: (812) 446-2216
Maybe this will help?

Lori,
During the Civil War some prisoners were paroled by the Union Army if
they agreed to never return to the Confederacy. Maybe he was captured
and some one told him about Clay County! My Cousins gr grandfather went
to Jasper Co., IL as a result of just that! He was from the area around
Macon, GA.

I don't but my sister probably does.

My great uncle Jimmy Harris died just that way, I believe in the National
Mine in Vigo county. A cart began rolling toward the shaft, he tried to
stop it and it took him along. This would have been right around 1900.

Ord Parker fell down the Diamond mineshaft in 1869 when someone moved the
cage up just as he pushed his cart forward. He is buried at the Pell
Cemetery south of Harmony. Then in the 1880's, his son Albert was killed in
a mine accident at the age of 14. He is buried at the Harmony Redman
Cemetery. I think most of us know of a mine accident where a family member
died.
