Hi,
Over the weekend we experienced a dramatic influx of searching that was
unanticipated.
We are currently working on the problem by adding another server that will
disperse the heavy load we are experiencing.
Please do not become discouraged by this. We are confident that this high
volume of searching will be compensated for. Please try your search again.
Jeff – Everton Publishers, Inc.
p.s. I apologize for the typo in the e-mail, it should read
“See how easy it is to subscribe for only 15.95 for one year.”
Not .95 for one year
Becky, I just want to thank you for transcribing the 1900 Clay County
Census. I had the opportunity to use it, and located information on my
grandfather. Again, thank you

Hi all,
I got into the site just fine the first try, BUT, I kept getting connection
timed out. It is probably busy at this time of day.
A trick for all of you that are having trouble with getting the site, try
shutting down your system completely and restarting it. Then sign on and try
again.
This trick always works for me! Don't know why, but it does! :o)
Good luck all.
Beck
Fred, do you still want the marriages affidavits posted on this list? I apologize, I meant to get it sooner but been busy and wanted to make sure again before I do it.
Carol Jo
Well, I admit I didn't bother to exercise the site. But it did give me the
first page.

Good morning everyone!
Fred has the final Posey Twp., 1900 Clay Co. census on the Clay Co. site now.
I'm working on Sugar Ridge Twp. and hope to have the first district
completed this week.
Good luck,
Becky
Thanks Dick but I was trying about 1 or 2 a.m. and wouldn't think it would
be overloaded at that time - I get through the registration, etc. but when I
type in a name for a query and hit search, that's when it won't let me go
any further. I've sent them a note so I hope to hear from them why this is
happening. JLB

It connected instantly for me at 9:20 AM Eastern today. Maybe an overload.

times. What am I doing wrong? Jan B.
I've tried twice to get on the Everton Roots Cellar Search. Everytime it
tells me my internet explorer can not open that site. I've register and
everything. Any suggestions of what may be the problem.
Use the Roots Cellar Free: 27 March - 3 April 2000
Everton's Roots Cellar has over one million names of ancestors --
linked to the genealogists pursuing them. Each Roots Cellar entry
defines a single person with a name, date, event and locality, and
links that man or woman to the genealogist working on that family
line, along with his or her address.
Years in the making, Everton's Roots Cellar has been available for
purchase or by subscription for some time. But for the next week,
from Monday, March 27th through Monday, April 3rd, you can search
this excellent database free of charge.

Monroe County Early Obits, copied by Dorothy Hamm from microfilm prepared by
the Newspaper Archives, Indiana University (IU), available at the Monroe
County Historical Society (MCHS).
NOTE: There is no longer a newspaper archives at IU and the microfilm cannot
be located. The cards from which the microfilm was made is part of the
clipping file available at the MCHS. The cards may or may not contain the
entire obituary.
MERCER, Mrs. (?) (Mary E.?)
Died on July 25, 1881 at Knightsville in Clay Co., Indiana. Buried in
Bloomington. The wife of Felix G. Mercer. Mrs. Mercer was a sister of the
Stockwell boys.
Republican Progress, Aug. 3, 1881.
Newspaper Archives, I.U. Library. [See above note.]
Note: Felix G. Mercer married Mary E. Stockwell on Sept. 20, 1852 in
Monroe Co., IN. (This was evidently Felix G. Mercer, a son of another Felix
who is listed on p. 444, entry #54, city of Bloomington, 1850 Monroe Co.
Census. To make matters even more confusing, both father and son seem to have
married women named Mary. Mary, the wife of the elder Felix Mercer, appears
to be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. Page 5 of the Rose Hill Cemetery Book
1821-1976, published by the Monroe Co. Genealogical Society, lists Mary A.
Mercer, wife of F. G., b. 1-24-1823, d. 6-7-1851). Since the death notice of
the younger Mrs. Felix Mercer states she is buried in Bloomington, it is
possible that the Amanda Mercer buried beside Mary A. Mercer could be the
wife of the younger Felix Mercer. The tombstone was obviously in poor
condition as the copier questioned whether or not the name was Amanda, could
not read the year of the birth date and might possibly have misread the date
of death. Date of death was listed as 7-5-1851. Could it have been 7-25-1881?
