Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I talked with the owner of Mt Pleasant Cemetery this evening. The church
never burned, a shed behind it did! The cemetery is as old as the 1830's
although there are no records of those who are buried there. Several years
ago the church building itself was moved across the street and later added
onto.
The cemetery was copied by the old Wabash Valley Genealogical Society and
published in 1982 as part of the 3 Volumn Set of CEMETERIES VIGO COUNTY
INDIANA. That Genealogy Society no longer exists. At this time, I doubt
there is anyplace we can buy these books except maybe in Antique or Used Book
Stores.
Thank Goodness, we have a copy in the Genealogy Society Library in Center
Point.

I am trying to find an Elizabeth MOYER born in Indiana and her ancestors. Deduction from census indicates that she was born about 1822 in IN. In 1837, she married James MATTOX in Vigo Co. IN. About 1856, they moved to Clay Co., IN. After James' death, she married Benjamin COPPOCK in Clay Co., IN in 1875. The last census data on Elizabeth was the 1880 Clay Co census as Benjamin's wife. A web search of the 1820 census reveals that there were only 4 Moyer as head of household in Indiana. Two of those resided in Lawrence Co., IN - Andrew and John B. The other 2 resided in Orange Co., IN - Moses and J.F. The same search in 1830 results in 13 Moyer in the state as head of household. In Lawrence Co., there were none. In Orange Co., there were 6 - Frederick, George, John, John B., Matthias, and Moses. I have included the page numbers for those census below. The closeness of the location of the households in the 1830 census indicates to me that they all were related. I also surmise fro!
m the data in those census that the J.F of 1820 was the Frederick of the 1830 census. The 1830 census of Orange Co., contains 3 households with a girl between 5 and 10 years. Those households are John, Moses and Frederick.
In 1840, web search shows only 3 Moyer in the vicinity- David and John in Orange Co and George in Vermillion Co. These census have not yet been examined.
Does any one have information on these families? I would be glad to share descendancy information if you are interested.

wondered if any one knew any thing about Emma Steiner daughter of Peter
and Anna Maybaugh Steiner who married twice in Indiana 1st to HJ Carman
--in 1887 --- then to Wm L Miller in 1891 -- supposely had two children
one by carman --Herald J. born 1888 and one by Miller -Kathryn - possibly
-- might have had a slight problem and never married but was reared
possibly by a sister of her mother, Emma, as Emma was said to have died
young.. can't find Emma..it is possible that she remarried a third time
but more likely that she died young.. son Herald does not remember a half
sister but remembered being reared by a rough step parent... this is the
only miller I am interested in unless they connect to the Kearns family
or the Modesitt family or the Stevens family ... then I spark an interest
again...

Jan,
What MILLER and BROWN are you researching? I am curious because I am
researching the BROWN and MILLER families also ----- both are big families,
I know.
Darlene Miller Arney
searching: MILLER, ARNEY, BROWN, WHEELER, DECKARD, EADS, KINSER
Darlene and Anyone Else: My Miller's furtherest back I have is Peter MILLER
b:1787 and was known to have been in Bedford Co. PA. He married a Nancy Jane
MYERS b:1797 and they're both buried there in Rule Cemetery Clay Co.IN. - I've
heard and seen in writing that people also referred to her as Anna - why I
don't know.
They had Catherine, John, Mary Ann, Laner, George, Jacob, Levi and Drusilla.
Two
of the girls - Mary Ann and Drusilla - married Albrights and lived in
Wisconsin.
John married Hannah CARPENTER (1st marriage). He was married three times and
had children by two. If any of this looks familiar please contact me. As
for the
Brown family I can't seem to get anywhere with them.My Matilda Brown b:
4-6-1821
in Floyd Co. IN. married William SOLOMON. I need parents/siblings for
Matilda.
I'd appreciate any help. Jan B. in OKC
Hi I would be interested in the Mt pleasent Records also also...I am told
my Brannons are buried there...
Thanks
