Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I have not done any Jones research but I an tell you from experience that you
will also want to consider any Kerr Jones you might find.
Also, a Wesley Jones, a minister apparently, married Allie Luther in Harrison
Co, IN, in 1817, I have the idea they had no children, but Wesley did live in
Owen and/or Clay Co. This might give you an idea where to look.
Becky,
Have you tried Wal-Mart or K-Mart "do yourself machine" or find someone
with a scanner and have it sent to your computer. My brother has scanned
many old pictures to me. I have my mom and dad's pictures enlarged at
Linton Wal-Mart and even a copy of my grandparents done there. They did a
very good job. Just an idea.
Wish I'd been home while you were here maybe we could have met at some
cemetery <smile>.

Also if anyone comes into the Genealogy Society there in
Center Point
asking about MILLER'S - especially James K.P. MILLER - I have an old photo of
he
and his wife - Sarah A. Beatty - and their family that I can scan and send by
email.
You folks do wonderful work and I along with others appreciate what you're
doing. My
only regret is I never have enough time to spend at the library PLUS going to
the
cemetaries, etc.. Thanks - Jan Baldwin in OKC

Mary - Here's part of the letter I wrote before on my MILLERS. I also want
to say I've
been in contact with several people online about our MILLERS and CARPENTERS
famillies who originally came from PA.. James Knox Polk MILLER that I listed
above
was married first to Hannah CARPENTER. A person online told me that Hannah
and John were buried in PA. and I kept telling her NO they are buried in
Ruhle Cem.
in Clay Co. IN.. - to make a long story short my Hannah CARPENTER had an
Aunt Hannah Carpenter who also married a John MILLER of a different line of
MILLERS. Some of Hannah's CARPENTER family moved to Clay Co. IN. like she
and John Nicholas MILLER did. For anyone researching the CARPENTERS from
PA. I'd like to be in touch with them. Also John Nicholas MILLER had two
sisters
who married ALBRIGHT brothers and lived in Wisconsin. I've been in touch with
a descendant of Mary Ann MILLER who married Jacob ALBRIGHT and they're
mentioned (I think) in Peter MILLER and/or Nancy J. (Anna) MILLER's Will.
Thank you all for your help on the photograph and the cemetery. I have found
out that this is Marion Cemetery, my Uncle is listed on the map of the
cemetery.
Thank you again for all of your help. I don't know what I would do without
all of you!!! :o)
Becky Horvath
Okay, when you get them together, that will be fine. Just send as
complete a description as you can when you request material from us or
the library. If we have more information, we sometimes find brothers and
sisters even when we can't the person you want.
I have seen that Jeffers material! Joyce has done quite able for someone
else. There are Jeffers buried at Oak Hill. Lots of them! Lots and
lots of folks from Perry and Posey Township are there, too.
I don't have the names of your Jeffers here. Probably at home in my Pc!
Mary
How far out of town. East toward Vandalia? My ggg grandfather John G.
Long is in Phillips Cem. Sec 17 Owen Co.Earl Corbin farm Vandalia, In.?
If you can give me a more clear discription I can check the Owen Co. map
for Cemeteries later this week.
Mary
Hi all,
I'm new to this list! It's great to see so many folks helping each other!
I've (relunctly) begun the nightmare JONES branch.
Nancy Ann JONES b. 17 Aug 1839, IN (census records verify this); m. 30 Aug
1857, Stone Co. MO to William Allen HEMBREE (she was the 2nd wife) (I have
marriage certif); d. Aug 1917 in Stone Co. MO.
Her father: Carr JONES, b. c. 1813 in Clay Co. Mother unknown.
I have tried the census on this man with no luck. I believe the info on Carr
JONES came from the IGI or Ancestral File from the FHC. So, for all I know,
the submitter has the wrong county.
I piddled a little bit with land records, but haven't followed the trail to
heavily yet. I think this will be my summer project.
Has anyone seen this man?

I would 'very much' appreciate if you could send me a scan of James and
Sarah. I am a descendent of Jacob, a brother to James K.P. and have quite a
large amount of the Miller family that I will be most happy to share with
anyone. I have a picture of John Nicholas "Nick" if you are interested. My
connection to the Millers also inclusdes Robertsons. Thank you so much for
any help you can enlighten me one. Anita J. McEnulty Cloverdale, Indiana

I am not possitive how many cemeteries there are in Patricksburg, but one is
called the Lutheran Cemetery and one is called the Christian Cemetery. I know
the Christian Cemetery is just off the road behind the school and is not on a
hill.

I just took several old and newer pictures to Kinko's, which is a copy business
and they have glossy card that they will give you free to make copies of pictures
on the machines yourself at $1.00 per copy. You can get as many on a sheet as
will fit. You do need to make sure you get pictures with the same contrast so
that some are not light in tone and some dark. It also helps if you place a
plain white piece of paper over the top of them before taking the picture so you
don't get black between the pictures as that will also change the colors in your
pictures. If you want your black & white pictures to come out better make them
on the color machines as well. You can make them on the regular machines and
still use the glossy card or plain glossy paper. I imagine that the machines at
Wall-Mart and K-Mart are the same, but have not been there. Most copy businesses
have the color copy machines now for you to use. You can enlarge also, but if
you do only put one picture on to copy and enlarge at a time. It is well worth
it for good pictures. They also made some copies for me that I wanted good
copies of and I believe they charged $1.19 - $1.29 each for them to enlarge.
They can not make copies of the newer pictures with studio names on them, but you
can do it yourself just as well. Make sure you ask for "glossy card" paper or
"glossy" paper. Both are good quality, but the card paper makes for a stronger
picture backing. Hope this helps.

Hello Mary,
I don't have the group sheets organized yet. I have only been on this since
last summer and taking info from the notes that I have gathered years back.
I have been doing the census and other references to see if any of the
information can be verified. Also checking on the LDS site and social
security index etc. I have to do all on the computer.
Will try to get some more completed but it will take time. Right now it's
just notes.
Thank you

I have another question I hope someone may be able to help me with. I am
trying to find out the name of a cemetery on county road or state road 246 in
Patricksburg, Indiana. I think this is in Owen County, but no one on the
Owen list new the name of it. It's just a little cemetery on a hill. An
Uncle of mine, Paul Cahall 1934, that died only being a few days old, is
buried there and we didn't see a name on the cemetery anywhere.
Can anyone tell me what the name of this cemetery is?
Thank you all so much!

Doris - Next time I'm back there I'd like to meet you. I still have a few

I want to thank everyone for their ideas. I really wish these photo places
wouldn't put their stamps on the pictures just for the fact that it makes it
very difficult for us geneologist to get copies! I'll give my Wal-Mart and
KMart a try here in South Bend.
Thank you everyone! Happy hunting!

Mary, I have a lot of relatives burried in Oak Hill Cemetery. I could
have SWORN that was in Clay Co. My grandparents, William B. ROGERS and
his wife Edith Pearl WESTFALL ROGERS are burried there. I'm pretty sure
my grandmother's parents are there, Luther WESTFALL and Sarah Jenny WEST
WESTFALL. Jenny had a baby out of wedlock and caused her parents grave
disappointment. In fact, I believe she had that baby with a
Lautenschlager (BOY, I did a "soundex" spelling on that one!). Mom said
the baby died at birth and is burried there with Sarah Jenny WESTFALL.
I have been searching for info on Luther WESTFALL for a couple of years
but I haven't visited Oak Hill to see if there is anything there for
him. I have his wife Sarah Jenny WEST traced back fairly well,
especially on HER mother's side, Nancy GILBERT WEST.
I come home for short weekend visits to check on my parents who live in
Terre Haute, and I never seem to be able to get to the CCGS or to visit
the cememteries. I want to so BAD!! I guess I'll just have to leave my
husband. I'll make him stay here (Richmond, KY) and work, and I'll go
up to T.H. for a week of cemetery hopping. My whole family, on both my
mother's and father's sides, goes way back to the early 1800s in Clay
Co. I was born in Vigo Co. I have a lot of information but I'd love
to have copies of the paperwork such as deeds, marriage bonds, death
certs. and wills, etc. I'm sure much of that can be found at the CCGS.
Thank you for all your labor and making this a great list of info.
