List,
I have recently obtained a copy of an obituary for my great uncle Frank
Pavelko. In the obituary is says that he was born in Diamond Park County,
Indiana in 1905. I cannot seem to find any references for this county. Does
anyone know anything about Diamond Park County?
Thanks

Are you looking for something particular? I have been to Diamond, driving
around looking for a Catholic graveyard with my Great grandmother's grave in
it. I didn't find it-but I have walked around several graveyards. There is
also a Catholic church still standing-ST Mary's- If I remember - it was a
mission church but is no longer used. Also, I think there is a Greek
Cemetery. The cemetery with all the Italian graves is in good shape. The
Clay Co Genealogy Society probably could point you in the right direction.
St. Mary's was a mission church of Assumption Church in Brazil. They might
have information. Hope this might help.
The Clay Co Genealogy Society is a great source of information. You might
contact them. They have always been very helpful when I have been there.
Good Luck

There is a small town called Diamond in the N.W. corner of Dick Johnson Twp.,
Clay County, Indiana. This community extends across the county line into
Parke Co., Indiana. There isn't much there anymore.

This sounds like a great idea! At the risk of sounding uneducated in
genealogy terms, what is "e-zine"? I've subscribed. iggy

The BRAZIL MINER has to say of a former Bloomingtonian: Dr. F. G.
Thornton, of Knightsville, while in the city Thursday dropped in to see us.
The Doctor is a promising and rising young physician, a man of marked
ability, and is deserving of the reputation he has gained as a physician
and citizen and the large practice he has acquired in the four years he has
been in the county.

I put out some queries searching for my gr gr grandfather, Michael Myers.
I didn't realize how common a name this was until I started searching a
couple of years ago. I have had a few responses but have not been able
to really connect to any information I have received. Thought I would add
more information I have to see if anyone can connect.
The Michael Myers I am searching for was born in Virginia, September 29,
1803, don't know who or where, when married but may have been married
twice. Most of the information I have was passes on by my grandmother
Sarah Ellen MYERS MUNCIE, who was Michael Myers granddaughter.
I have children's names but now much on locations or dates.
i. George Adam Myers, b Jan 1833, d Jan 21, 1846
ii Michael Myers (#2), b March 25, 1843, d Feb 15, 1928, buried Croys
Creek Cemetery, Putnam County, Indiana, gr grandfather.
iii. William Myers
iv. John Myers (This could be John Marion Myers someone was searching for.)
v. Joe Dan Myers
vi Mary Myers
vii. Katie Myers
I have information that the first Michael Myers was born in Virginia.
The second Michael Myers was born in Sullivan County, Indiana.
John Myers was born in near Lewis, in Vigo County, Indiana.
I found on the INCLAY website, information on line, a listing of the burials
at Neidlinger Cemetery. There was a stone for the elder Michael Myers
and the next one over was Adam Myers (George Adam), died January
21, 1846, 13 years, 8 days, s/o M & M Myers. This is the only clue I
have to the mother who's first initial was evidently M also.
I explored the list at the Indiana State Library of Indiana Marriages
through 1850 and found the following Michael Myers:
MYERS, MICHAEL Married DRISKILL, PEGGY Wash. Co. 08/15/1826
MYERS, MICHAEL HALL, SUSAN Wells Co. 03/15/1841
MYERS, MICHAEL LATHAM, CHARLOTTE Clay Co. 08/1846
MYERS, MICHAEL TEVEBOUGH, CATHARINE Martin Co. 07/17/1823
MYERS, MICHAEL KAUFFMAN, MARTHA Wayne Co. 08/13/1846
MYERS, MICHAEL F SOWERS, SARAH Fountain Co. 09/10/1848
MYERS, MICHAEL M BOOHER, MARTHA ANN Shelby Co. 07/04/1832
The only marrige shown above that occured before George Adam was born in the
last one. If this is the same Michael Myers that married Charlotte Latham in
Clay County, this would be his second marriage.
Am wondering if anyone sees a connection to this family since I have furnished
a little more information???

I AM FRUSTRATED! (Pardon my loudness) but I have tried several times to
get online here. You can access FamilyTreeMaker, however, I've not been
able to view any of the information that is supposed to be available.

Is this Michael Myers any relation of Nancy J. Myers who was the
first wife of Peter MILLER. They orginally came to Clay Co.
from Bedford Co. PA.. I wonder how many of Nancy (she was also referred to

siblings also came to IN.. Can anyone help? She was born in the

PA. before coming west. Can anyone help? Thanks - Jan B. in OKC
In your search for Micheal Myers please keep an eye open for John Marion
Myers born in Illinios (per 1870 census) born in November 1953. He is living
with his grandfather Isaac M. Moore in Posey twp of Clay county in the 1870
census. I don't know which of the older daughters is his mother as they
didn't marry in Clay co.

Hi,
I'm new to the Vigo County List and haven't posted this information
anywhere for a long time so thought I would see if anyone can help me?
The object of my search is one Michael Myers, said to have been
born in Virginia, September 29, 1803. This is a gr gr grandfather. He
had a son named Michael Myers, said to have been born in Sullivan
County, March 25, 1843. This would be a gr grandfather. He also had
children born near Lewis in Vigo County. They finally settled in Clay County.
Both of the Michael Myers' listed above died and is buried in Clay County.
Would sure like to find out more about these Myers families, spouse,
siblings, etc. Trying to locate where in Virginia this family came from
in Virginia, maybe locate his parents.
