Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Richard,
One more thing. I noticed that next to Sarah J. born in Ohio and was 16 years old
it is listed that she was a spinster?! What do you make of that?

Could someone volunteer to go to the library and look up the 1870
census? I think there is an error in it. According to:
ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/on/clay/census/c1870e-h.txt it has the
following:
FUNK Casins 22 OH
FUNK David 52 VA
There is a biography at rootsweb.com/!inclay/bios/funk-c.htm for Cassius
M. FUNK
1. Is it Casins or Cassius? The place of birth and age matches.
2. Is it David or Daniel? The place of birth and age also matches?
Would like to know for my research and to correct what is on the web
page so that it won't miss lead someone else.
I would be so very grateful for any help.

thanks for the responses.
Doris, if you don't have time, if you could send me a xerox copy, I would be glad
to input any Travis bios also.
I have quite a bit of lineage information in my direct line but very little
information about the family other than their names, and would like very much to
find out more about my ancestors other than names and dates.
William Travis and Susan Zimmerman had a son, Charles Emmet ,who was my
grandfather. He was in the army for several years and ended up in Fort Huachuca
at the turn of the century (I think), anyway he married my grandmother in Cochise
County, in 1907. All of these people died before I was born.
Anyway, thankyou very much for responding.

Melissa,
I was wrong on the year. I thought the History of Clay County might have been
published about the time "The Cory Story" was published, but I found on Clay
County Genealogical Society page the Clay County History was published in 1984.
There might be something listed for Funk & it is possible there might be a
reference under Stoelting.

Nathan R. Beaman, son of Laban and Mahala (Stevens) Beaman, was born 16 July
1854 in Owen County. He married in Clay County on 6 April 1879 to Nannie E.
Fagan. Son, Corry Eugene Beaman was born 12 December 1880, place unknown.
(Corry Eugene registered at Lincoln County, Idaho for the WWI Civilian Draft.)
Nathan was said to have gone to Linn County, KS in 1887, but I have not
located him in any Federal census until 1920. Also he was said to have
married there in 1889 to Elizabeth Hicks, but I have not found a marriage
record. Elizabeth and Nathan are buried side by side in Elk Creek Cemetery,
Stanton Township. Another child of Nathan R. is William Wilbert Beaman, born
19 February 1883 in Linn County; his mother was said to be Elizabeth Hicks.
Can anyone tell me what happened to Nannie, and when and where Nathan and
Elizabeth were married?
I am looking for information on the following WESTs who migrated to Clay
Co. IN in 1827 from Clermont Co. OH.

James b. 15 Apr 1843 m. Annie Staggs
Abner b. 1844 (CW Vet) m. Ollie Kester
Thomas b. 1845 m. Melissa Tribble m. Nancy Fry
According to "The Cory Story" Tom West, of German descent (it is said
the name had been Weust) son of George and Mary WEST, b. 1807 came from
Ohio and settled at Five Points, just south of the later site of Cory,
about 1837. He fought in the Mexican War and died shortly after his
return.

I would like to know if Andrew Jackson "Jack" WEST was the son of Thomas

this.
Also, would like any information on Luther WESTFALL, my g-grandfather
who m. Sarah Jenny WEST.

Good idea, Doris Louise.
There is a lengthy bio about William Travis, born Tuscarawaras County, Ohio 25
April 1838, in the Blanchard 1884 History.
Ellen, if you want, I could input it and sent it to you. Also, we could put
it on Fred's bio page.
Glorianne
Dear Ellen,
I am fortunate enough to have a "Travis" book. I think I tried to look up
William Travis in his history of Clay County the first time someone wanted
to know about him, he was not to be found. I think one of his sons was,
but not sure. I think he wrote everyone's bios but his own. You might try
the "History of Clay County" by Blanchard published in 1884. It has a lot
of bios. It is out of print also. We have a couple of the originals. One
belonged to my grandfather and the other to my great uncle. My brother
inherited my great uncle's from my aunt who died about four years ago at
the age of 98. Both books are very fagile. However, it too was reprinted
by the Genealogy Society a few years back. But like "Travis" history they
are not having it reprinted.
I am attending a meeting at the Genealogy Library this evening. Be glad to
see
what I can find out and let you know.
Doris Louise
To All,
How do I contact a health officer of Clay Co. I am trying t get a birth
record that occured before 1907. I know it is a long shot but the
website I was just at said that is what should be done.
Thanks in advance,
Melissa
I have really hit a brick wall with my husband's grandmother, LAURA F.
(GARDNER) FREDERICKS and FREDDIE FREDERICKS who were married in Terre
Haute, IN, in May of 1921. We haven't been able to find anything of
them after the birth of their daughter, May 27, 1922. Originally from
Clay Co., IN, born Dec 9 1896, Laura has vanished. Laura's two
children were living with grandmother Catherine Cass when she (the
grandmother) died suddenly in December 1923. Is anyone in that area
who could look up courthouse records, city directories, newspapers, or
anything that might give us a clue as to what happened to them? Please
contact me if so. Thanks for any help.
Fred,
Actually this was helpful. Where did you get your info from? Now I need t figure
out why and when he moved to W. Va. He married there in 1927.

Ellen,
I think this book is going to be hard to find asnd if you do it will be
expensive. As far as I know the Clay County Gen. Soc. was the only one
having the book re-published and they are out with no plans to re-order any
more.
The book doesn't have much info. on the author,if I do find a used copy I
will be glad to grab it and send it along to you if you are interested and
how much do you want me to spend on it,they were $40.00 new.

Melissa,
I think Nancy is talking about the book called "The Cory Story",it was
written in 1970 and contains mostly genealogies with a little history.I
checked my copy but there was no mention of the name FUNK.
I did find a Dennis Funk living in Bowling Green,Clay County Indiana in
1921.I know none of this is what you want but I will try to send what I can
find and perhaps you can put the pieces together for your line.
